What's the point on starting a SOTM, if all the fully active members here don't want it?
It pays to actually ask the public what they want.
I did that, and pretty much everyone said that they want to skip this month's SOTM, and hopefully there are a few more good stories going on next month.

I have no idea how this relates to Suren, and your comment was really uncalled for.

Whats the point in having a STOM competition if it's not gonna be run monthly and just when we think it takes our fancy?

Honestly, I was never a fan of Suren's STOQ, it just added uncessecary hassle to people and made it much more hardwork than it should have been.

I know I'm not a mod here, (reports keep landing in my modbox though) but let's keep it friendly eh? PC is such a nice, friendly forum compared to some out there. :)

Keep it simple guys. As MB76 said, this is a nice and friendly forum. I apologize to Harsh as that post was meant for him had he posted about Callum.

No need to say sorry friend. It is just that some people are really acting like God on these forums. They want themselves to be called the best even if they are not.

They think they can handle things their way if they have mods as their friend. Mods in simple line should take their own decision and should not ask here. Atleast SOTM should go the way it was before.

Also people should stop criticizing people who cannot continue the stories. If some people can complete and other cannot then it does not mean the one who complete is god and others are their servent..

No! The ones stopping should get severe criticism, so that they'll think twice before they start again:yes.

I think it's more the fact that some people never complete their stories.
They start one, post a few updates, and just stop it.
Then a month later they'll just start a new one, and the same thing will happen again.
If you go through the last year, I'm sure you would find several people who've started at least three stories and not completed any of them.

Well that's what it used to be like.
It's been skipped out a few times over the last year, and no ones really cared.
If you're so worried about it, why didn't you ever do anything about it, as you've been a staff member for longer than me.
I've come along and asked the members what they want, and pretty much everyone agrees that it'll be a waste of time to have it this month.

I've talked with Matt, and the next SOTM will be early next month.

I'm not a staff member of this forum, so I can't really do anything can I?

It wasn't done out of choice before, it was done because of people neglecting it. That doesn't mean we didn't choose not to do it, it was that there was no active mod to conduct it.

We can have the SOTM. But, the competitors (2 out of 3) have agreed that they don't mind if it is skipped. So no harm I think, Ollie?

I was more thinking you could of mentioned it to someone.

All good though, I've talked to Matt about it, so it doesn't really matter now.

Hope that's sweet with 99% of you.

I really don't give a toss. Some of us need to realise that this a forum on the web, for make believe stories people play on cricket games. I certainly enjoy writing them but sometimes it pays to realise that in the big picture of life, this really isn't that important.
It feels to me like Callum's just trying to get a bit of common sense in here about the way SOTM is run, it's not like he's usurping the throne or making decisions which could destroy a country's economy or anything. By the discussion going on in the last couple of pages it's like a civil war's brewing! FFS, it's not a big deal whether we have a SOTM or not! Let's just move on, kids.

Something has come to my attention recently, which is really ruining the story forum. This is the constant plagarism, copy and pasting - call it what you want, but is ruining this forum. More than a few users on a more than a few occassions have just copied and pasted entire articles - whether they give credit to the site or not is barely of note.

Why would I want to read stories about make believe events when I can read the exact same thing about something real that matters. The days when Treva, Surendar, gamerkid, jaztheman, punksk8r, pakistani army etc. (those are just a few of the ones I remember, there certainly were plenty more I haven't mentioned) would write entertaining articles and bring their stories to life are gone.

Because when you think about it, there's really no point reading fictional stories about games people have played on the computer or playstation or whatever. What made stories interesting was the creativity in their presentation and writing - how much could they create the feeling that their storyline was actually happening? Even if I didn't give a toss about the story itself, I would enjoy updates from members because I could see the efforts put in by them and there were some great days of everyone giving their best to write, and read and encourage, other people's writing. I'm not saying every writer now is no good - there are some brilliant writers - but too many people aren't posting their own work.

I propose a system be put in place that somehow prohibits and eradicates this plagarism. A ban system could be put in place where you are warned once and then banned from writing stories, or have their threads closed. Whatever is done, I don't care but Callum or whoever else, please look seriously at this issue and do something about it.

I realise that's a bit of an essay (I think I used some SEXY paragraphing - NZ readers will know what I'm talking about :D) but it really is true and while I know these forums don't matter that much in the context of life, I really do think they've gone downhill.

I completely agree, I have really started to stay away from these forums because sometimes I read the comments and I just think they are more there to say they have looked at the thread than anything else. It isn't worth it for the response some people get when they right.

So many people have come to this forum, and instead of writing some good about the story and how they think it will pan out, they just write 'nice read' and I wonder why they even bother, for the post count?
