Story Super Challenge 2004

Good effort in restricting to 255 after 150+ at 25 overs mark. Good effort by Lara and Kalli. at this stage I feel World XI are atleast 35-40 runs short on this pitch. Let's see how the bowling attack responds defending this target.

Save game S, both the team looked perfect.

Good luck with your bowling, Mike didnt upload the purple trouser did he? I played with the orange one this time as I couldnt find it anywhere, it looked good the kit even with an orange trouser.

Anil Kumble must be luckiest man on this planet. He has now made three appearances for World XI, despite bowling what I call "straight balls".

Great innings by the great BC Lara though! Keep it going WXI. Hopefully Harmy will give you some early wickets!

Murali stands between Australia and victory

The Australians have come out all guns blazing and look heading towards a win here but Murali has kept World Xi in the game, only just. After 25 overs the Aussies are 181 for 5 needing just 75 to win. Murali (7 overs 4 for 30) has single handedly lead the bowling effort while all others had no answers to the Aussie attack.

Can Aussies take the Super Challenge in the decider, or will we see some twist in the next session..

surprise surprise..Kallis provided a double breakthrough removing both Lehmann and Harvey in one over..35 to win with 3 wickets in hand..this one is not over yet..

more drama..Kallis who is generating some astonishing reverse swing clean bowled Lee, but new man Gillespie hits a 4 in the same over..14 needed with 2 wickets in hand

Australia win by 2 wickets

A game that looked like heading for a quick finish turned into a nail biter but Australia survived a stunning comeback from world XI to get home by 2 wickets.
Australia began their chase in great fashion as Ponting raced to a quickfire 50 virtually batting World XI out of the game, who also had little luck today. Murali struck in his first over by removing Ponting (102/2). Wickets fell at regular interval but Australians looked heading for a comfortable win after reaching 216 for 5 at one stage. Harvey and Lehmann put together a useful partnership after Murali had them in a spot of bother at 154/5.
Things changed dramatically towards the end, Fleming tried his 8th bowler of the inning tossed the ball to Kallis. Attacking field was employed as there was no chance of restricting the Aussies and Kallis provided 2 breakthoughs in his first over. Generating some notable reverse swing he then clean bowled Lee and Aussies were in real danger of losing this game. But Shane Warne kept his cool and with Gillespie hanging on at the other end Aussies reached home with 2 wickets in hand.
Tough luck for World XI but credit for the way they kept fighing till the end. Australia for their part fully dominated the bowling early on and as always had good partnerships in the middle order.

So after another thrilling game the two teams ar tied at 2-2. This amazing series will now come to it's conclusion at the MCG.

great game Ravi, as I said WXI were always 35-40 runs short. But the way Aussies started looked like even 300 wasn't enough, just couldn't restrict Ponting and co. After 100 was on the board with more than 8 an over I thought it was going to be over by 30 overs :D but keeping in tradition with the way games have gone in this series there was some drama in store :)

This was yet another excellent game we have witnessed S. Although I thought Aussies should reach the target I was a touch apprehensive about it considering the number of wicket taking bowlers in World XI. This has to be the best series I've played so far. Bowling is lot of fun and with also a world class bowling attack restricting World XI to around 5 rpo wont also gurantee a win too. It is befitting the champions are going to be decided in the finals and I have to say Aussies love playing at home. Terrific series mate, just cant predict the way the series is heading.

For some reason Flintoff never fired during this series, maybe its to do with the stats he had when the game was released. He is now a very experienced and matured cricketer. I was hoping he will come good in any of these games but it wasnt to be, I think its time to update the stats for him and probably all other players in All stars XI.

Now the last game I suppose is batting only game right. This will now shift the balance slightly towards World XI. I hope am not rushing too much but I cant wait to play really, maybe we can toss but can start whenever you like if you are short of time.

Another terrific game fellas, another close finish. The Aussies rose to the occasion when the pressure was on. Now it's all down to the last game...

cracking game!! but had the aussies lost this one, that had only themselves to blame, considering the fact that they had almost 14 overs left to play.

Shaun Pollock set to join World XI

Melbourne, Australia: The suspense over replacement for Shane Bond finally ended after Stephen Fleming announced that Shaun Pollock will be joining the squad ahead of the final odi. Fleming stated that Pollock looked in good form in their last series and also has been a proven performer in the past and v the Australians.
Tickets at the MCG are sold out as expected ahead of the final odi of the series. The Super challenge is tied with both teams winning two games each.

Bowling lineup
--------------
Glenn McGrath
Jason Gillespie
Bret Lee
Ian Harvey
Shane Warne
Michael Clarke

No changes whatsoever in the Aussie team although there was temptation to change just for the sake of changing but eventually none of them deserved to be dropped. Gilly and Hayden have done very badly so far hopefully they will come to their terms in this crucial game. Harvey has batted better than any other batsmen and is pretty much playing as a batsman in the team.
