Press Conference by Malcolm Speed ICC Chairman

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to today's Press Conference. After months of hard negotiating, the ICC is pleased to announce a sponsorship deal with Planet Cricket. We are confident Planet Cricket will provide the media coverage & exposure this tournament deserves. We have been promised full match reports including video as well as pictorial highlight packages which they signed up to at significant cost. The revenue from the sponsorship will be spread amongst the ICC member countries at grass roots level.

I would personally like to thank Mr Zimrahil from PlanetCricket who was very persistent in his dealings with us, and it was his enthusiam, and dedication to the cause that won Planet Cricket the deal from rival bidders which included cricket2002.tk, cricket2004.co.uk and the outsider nxsports.com.

Well thank you all for attending and we hope you enjoy the series.

And finally. please note that the meeting to discuss the proposal to hold an Asian XI v Rest of World XI series will be held at the end of this current series.

ICC names Planet Cricket as official sponsor

Merseyside, England: ICC has named internet cricket forum and leading patch, mod makers Planet Cricket as the official sponsor for Super Challenge 2004.
Speaking from his hq in Merseyside, PC chief Ste Cooper said it was a great honor to be associated with such major event. PC has been a major force since BLC days and they will do everything to make this event a memorable one.
Also from his home in Birmingham, another PC official Zimrahil commented "It is a dream come true."

Yes I would have made the comment myself but didnt know I made it, I was too busy on the phone to Mr. Speed.

No bids from NZWarriors submitted to the ICC? or will they just create there own rival Superseries which will be cancelled in disarray halfway through the first test as the World XI team try and change there lineup and try to replace Australia with Bangladesh as the opponents.

Fleming looking forward to the challenge

Bridgetown, Barbados (Jul 15, 2004).
World XI held their net practice at the Three Ws Oval here in Bridgetown. Captain S.Fleming looked confident ahead of the first game and with the amount of talent in his camp, that was no surprise. this is what he had to say

On leading the World XI
It's a honor and also a challenge. but I have some very experienced players here who are keen to offer advice on anything I need. Hardest part would be to select 11 players tomorrow.

On the opposition
Well, they are the no. 1 team. What we have to see is how they fare against us and under 5 different conditions. It will be a close series.

Overall the World XI camp looked in great spirits with first game of the Super Challenge less than 24 hours away.

Well actually Ste, Planet Cricket's freelance photographer Brad Perks managed to take this exclusive shot of Dave Johnson being told by Malcolm Speed of his decision to award the rights of the Super Challenge to his arch rival PC.

World XI still awaiting official kits
Super Challenge 2004 faced a minor glitch as the official kits have not reached Barbados yet. Commenting on the issue PC official Jonah said that it was a minor issue and will be sorted out in time. He confirmed that official pitch mats and stumps etc have already been handed over to the ground staff.
He however declined to comment when asked that if the delay was due to PC insisting on using a specific color for pads to match their logo colors.
