Story Super Challenge 2004

Looks good Mike, had tweaked the pacing a little bit for ver 12 to ensure CPU has enough wickets post 25 overs.

don't look enough at this stage ;) Australians gaining the upper hand already. stay tuned for 2nd half of the inning..

30 overs: World XI have reached 140 for 5, sadly for them Tendulkar was bowled by Symonds for 57 just when he was trying to up the runrate.

40 overs: World XI made some good progress but Sangakkara was out just when the partnership was looking good. 192 for 6.

Saving the best till last?

World XI reached a respectable 263 all out in 49.3 overs after Australia came under some pressure in the last 20 overs or so. Total 71 runs were scored after the 40th over mark and the onslaught came from unexpected duo - Shoaib Akhtar (32 off 23) and Muralidharan (25 off 16) unleashed some terrific strokeplay much to the amazement of the packed crowd (and Dravid at the other end). Some of the shots the crowd were talking during lunch break - Shoaib's smashing straight drive 6 to Gillespie that landed in 2nd floor balcony, a hook off the same bowler that flew over cover's head  and then a hit over midwicket by Murali that almost cleared the ground.
Earlier Sachin (57 off 108) and Dravid (43 off 70) played patient knocks to anchor the inning. For Australia McGrath was pick of the bowlers giving away just 29 in his 10 overs, Harvey (4/35) and Symonds (3/62) picked up crucial wickets but went for runs towards the end.

So that's lunch here at Barbados, we'll be back in 40 minutes for the start of Australia's run chase.

Thats a pretty healthy score thanks to the unknown belters in Shoaib and Murali:eek:

Bowled Warnie and McGrath but for these two we would have been facing bigger target.

Well batted S, its quite an effort with the bat by you scoring 140+ runs in the last 25 after having lost most of your top order batsmen. Good to see couple of sixes scored but not too many:cool:

building the innings..

LOL! funny that 2 of your favorite players were involved there :p

there was also a moment with Warne v Murali - Murali struck him for 4 first ball and then tried couple of wild reverse sweeps :D Warne got him stumped though in the final over

here is the save game Ravi, good luck.

Cheers, S.

Both the players came back to haunt for giving them sh*t for all these years, I have to say perfect timing;) :D

LOL @ the reverse sweep.:D There is this fun when you are playing the world xi right S, it just ups your enthusiam by that much more.

S, listen to the Ponting interview on my other thread World series. Put to use the good old BLC sound editing skills, I came up with that interview. I think it sounds pretty cool.

Yes Squiz, with the kind of resolution the movies has the ball is not visible. I should try a nearer camera angle.

Match nicely poised at the end of 25 overs

Australia started their chase pretty well and looked like they were in a hurry to knock of the required runs.Hayden and Gilchrist both looked in good touch and knocked few boundaries. Shoaib and Harmison both bowled with venom but at times the radar was not spot on. Harmison produced a beauty of a yorker to get rid of advancing Gilchrist to get the first World XI wicket.

Ponting came in and the very first ball was sent screaming to the ropes for a four. The next ball he faced off Shoaib Akthar was also hit for a four singalling his intentions early on. Hayden and Ponting advanced the score at a good pace. Just then Harmison produced another yorker which sent the middle stump cartwheeling to get rid of Hayden. The score then was 37.

Martyn although not looking his best played around comfortably in the company of Ponting and kept up the run rate. Fleming (i.e myself) now had to make bowling changes and it wasn't helping his cause the opening bowlers bowling a maiden and the very next over going for runs. He finally made the change and brought in Flintoff replacing Shoaib Akthar in the 11th over. Ponting was merely treating the faster bowlers with disdain on a pitch that is a death bed for faster bowlers.

Fleming didn't waste much time to introduce his star spinner Muralitharan who straight away bowled an awesome spell beating the bat every other over. Meanwhile Flintoff went for some more runs in his second over prompting Fleming to make another change this time bringing in Vettori in his place. The scoring rate was pretty good and by the end of the 15th over Aussies were cruising on 82/2. From then on Murali and Vettori bowled so tightly let alone Austalia pick boundaries it was hard to even score 2 runs an over.

While Vettori was persisted Fleming opted for change in the 22nd over to bring on Kallis in place of Murali to also preserve few important overs of his star bowler but also to see if he can get a wicket or two. Martyn and Ponting were content on picking singles while trying to make sure they didn't lose any more wickets by the end of 25 overs. Rush of blood for Martyn brought his demise when he lofted Kallis to long off to bring curtains to a very useful partnership of 67 runs.

The match now is very evenly poised and it will be a challenge to the very able players from both the teams to stake an upper hand.

Notice the manhattan how badly it has fallen post 12-13 overs.

Good luck S, I think we both have the chance to pull off this one although your couple of spinners had to be used quite a bit to ensure Australia won't run away with the game.

On the brighter side I realised I am a better at bowling than batting. I trust your skills as bolwer and CPU's batting to get us home;)
