Story Super Challenge 2004

Very nice highlights S, that catch of Clarke on the ege of the boundary was good to watch as well as the aerial cut shot by Harvey too.

Theres only one change to my squad B.Lee replaces Kasprowicz. The batting lineup stays the same but for Lee replacing Kasper.

Yeah, top highlights S:cool: , great stuff.

Good luck for another cracking game, hopefully we will still be able to post good score on this pitch too.

World XI v Australia : 2nd ODI at Lords

Tony Greag: Welcome to Lords for the 2nd match of Super Challenge. We had some overnight rain and as a result the pitch is bit damp. Over to Ritchie Benaud for the
presentation

Play has started after a short delay, and we have seen some action already in the first over, a rare dropped catch of Tendulkar and then Flintoff danced down the pitch to loft the last ball for a 4.
8 for 0 after 1.

15 overs: we had some more delay since the last update due to a short drizzle, but the play is finally underway. And those who waited patiently weren't disappointed as World XI are off to a flier reaching 92 for 2 after 15 overs. There were plenty of fireworks from Flintoff and later by a surprise no 3 Shoaib Akhtar who hit McGrath for 2 towering sixes (2nd one went out of the ground) in one over. Both are back in the pavellion though as Sachin and Fleming look to build on.

25 overs: World XI continued to move towards a decent score, reached 134 for 3 after 25 overs. Fleming would be a touch disappointed getting out in the 25th :(
Introduction of spinners has pulled back the runrate a bit after at one stage World XI were 79 in 11 overs. McGrath found out how quickly things can change in cricket, was hit all around for 50 in his 6 over spell. Symonds removed Akhtar but after that Fleming and Tendulkar looked in good touch on this pitch where ball is keeping low. With Sachin not out on 35 along with Kallis and some good batting to come, World XI must be hoping for a good total from here.

Over to you Ravi, hope the next World XI batsmen can cope with your bowling skills :)

btw McGraths 6th over (22 runs) had some drama as along with 2 big 6s by shoaib, there was one unusual moment of Akhtar getting bowled off a no ball (couldn't decide where to hit) and the ball went for 4 byes. first time I've seen this happening..

Thats an excellent comeback by the World XI on a track like this. Feel really sorry about that McGrath over, he would not take that very lightly that too being whacked around the ground by a fellow fast bowler.

Thats some terrific batting I have to say, scoring over 5 an over on a dicey pitch only losing 3 wickets with Tendulkar still at the crease, Lara and Dravid to come. The first 25 overs clearly belongs to you and I can assure you most often than not my guess is I could have scored in the range of 80-90 losing 4-5 wickets. So much for by bowling skills I will need to see how I can trigger a collapse otherwise its curtains for Australia as far as this game is concerned. Also very poor bowling effort by McGrath and Gillispie.

even I was bit surprised by the way I batted ;) usually I hate batting on damp/wet pitches. may be just playing with a top order like that helps :) had some luck too btw, like a flintoff edge going for 4, but overall pleased with the way my strategy has gone so far..
as for McGrath, he can suggest Ponting about sending him 1 down as well when they bat :p

Hero on the cricket 2004 forum mentioned the straight drive is too easy to score runs off and I reckon its easy too. Not for this game but for the next game and so on we may want to make this one shot hard to play. Mike may not really appreciate as I understand this as this is his favorite shot. ;) :p

well the decision to send shoaib at no.3 worked brilliantly for you shailesh.

also great to see flintoff and sachin opening.........and freddie outpacing the master blaster himself.

Grrr, always making it harder for us mere mortals with the bat:mad: ;) .
No, seriously Ravi, I've not had a chance to bat yet with this latest patch, so I can't comment on the ease/difficulty of the straight drive. I'll take yours and Hero's word for it:) .
