Shocking collapse by the World XI

Shane Warne has picked up 5 wickets for just 17 runs off his last 6 overs. This has been a shocking collapse by the World XI with Shane Warne running through the World XI middle order and lower order. Although there was couple of magic balls bowled by Warnie, the standard of the pitch has helped him run through the inning. In fact the umpires after the over by Harvey have conferred with Ponting citing dangerous pitch to call off the game at the home of cricket "The Lords". There is panicky all around and the grounds men seem to have taken cover under their respective houses already.

Amidst all these chaos there are two characters out there not complaining and are looking forward to carrying on playing. One in the form of Shane Warne who has just finished his absolute magical spell of 10-1-25-6 and the other is Rahul Dravid who has continued to show why he is the most dependable in the world at this moment of time. Dravid has still been able to hit 4 fours out of the 20 runs off 29 balls he has faced. In one over he hit two beautifully struck boundaries one each on both sides of the wicket. McGrath has been seen complaining vociferously to the umpires as well as his captain about the nature of the pitch. He is particularly not convinced he can be taken to the cleaners by Shoaib Akthar on any kind of pitch unless it isn?t a cricket pitch at all;) :p Quite obviously Shoaib seems to also favor the game goes ahead. :D

P.S : Don't know S, it is simply not worth playing on this pitch as there is hardly any fun out of it I think. The ball doesn't bounce at all and rolls on the ground even if I pitch on a good length. Many times even when bowled full it has rolled on the pitch and has been called no balls. I will continue and finish this game off anyway but if you want a change in plan I more than welcome it. Otherwise we can complete this game, move on and take an oath never to play on a rubbish pitch like this one.

Since the last post Harmison is showing lot of grit in the company of Rahul Dravid scoring 5 runs off 20 balls. Harmison although isn't able to score is showing lot of courage. Dravid and Harmison have put 14 runs on the board so its getting a touch interesting. I will go on complete this game as there are only another 8 overs left anyway.

oh dear :o :(

ICC proposes alternate venue for the 2nd ODI

Lords: After the 2nd match was abandoned following a emergency meeting between the two captains, match ref, ICC chief Malcolm Speed and PC representatives, ICC has proposed to play the match again at the Oval. While investigations are underway to determine why such "rubbish " pitch was produced for a important game like this, both teams have agreed to play the game again much to the relief of cricket fans all over the world.

Australian Team criticises Lords' pitch

THE Australian team blasted the state of the Lords' pitch after Australia wrapped up a quick 7 wickets in under 20 overs conceeding only 50 runs.

The state of the pitch was brought to the attention of the authorities by the umpires mid way through and it looked like neither side was keen to carry on barring couple of individuals. Thanks to the decision by the ICC for proposing a re match at a different venue, the crowd will not have to go disappointed.

Ponting was very happy to hear this "We are fairly satisfied with the new venue proposal by the ICC. There was no way we could have carried on batting on this dangerous pitch. The pitch is dangerously two paced and is not conducive for international cricket. Its a pity some of the guys doing well here like Tendulkar, Warne, Rahul and Shoaib will have to leave there figures behind but surely they also felt the wrath of the pitch. McGrath on the other hand has expressed happiness over this decision although he came back to bowl pretty well in the end. All our players back this decision and we spoke to the World XI players too. They seem to be happy with this decision too."

Sorry S, your excellent batting efforts didn't count there but after having done so well it wasn't a fair score in the end I thought.

Planet Cricket hints at involvement of external hand

Birmingham, England: While the mood was still upbeat at PC despite what happened at Lords, PC exec Zimrahil wasn't prepared to rule out the possibility of involvement of external hand / rival forum in this incident.
Mr. Zimrahil quoted "The rivalry between PC and some forums who are simply jealous of us is well known. There have been some unpleasant incidents in the past just because PC has continued to be the no 1 choice for cricket gamers. We'll do everything from our side to cooperate with the investigations to determine if the pitch produced was really because of bad weather conditions as said by the ground staff, or whether there was some external hand involved."

PC chief Ste Cooper also expressed shock at the nature of pitch produced at Lords. "We have never seen a pitch like this here before. And the way things changed only after first 25 overs it just doesn't look normal."

another PC official Mr. Jonah welcomed the move to replay the game at The Oval "The pitch there is normal and simply ideal for a match like this." He also promised to personally make sure that ideal conditions are produced when the two teams clash again.

Excellent, whenever you are ready S. I suppose the toss holds good or do we need a toss to be redone?

that's ok Ravi, it wouldn't have been a fair game. guess damp pitch is just not suited for human bowling, though batting there is a challenge and can be fun so only to be used when we are playing a 50 over batting match.

Early reports from The Oval - Weather has improved considerably - sunny (turning to overcast in the afternoon), mild and a normal pitch that looks full of runs. Toss holds good too Ravi, and same lineup for World XI.

Sounds good S, same line up for Australia too. Good luck again.

Do you want me to tweak the straight drive and upload the patch here or shall we leave that to the next match?

well the decision to send shoaib at no.3 worked brilliantly for you shailesh.

thanks vaughan, the decision was made considering 'that' pitch and for some quick runs in first 15..I've had some horrible scores on damp pitches before..

Ravi, playing with the new cfgs..
