Toss has been made at Barbados the venue for first of the 5 ODI series between the WORLD XI vs. the AUSTRALIA.

Following are the excerpts of the toss:

Tony Grieg: We have here with us the ICC match referee Mike Proctor, the Australian captain Ricky Ponting and the World XI captain Stephen Fleming. Ricky Ponting calls heads and its tails the World XI has won the toss here. Stephen what would you like to do?

Fleming: We would like to bat, thanks.

Tony Grieg: Is it a good toss to win and any reasons for choosing to bat.

Fleming: With the kind of team I have got to lead either decision was fine with us. All our boys are charged up and are looking forward to this game. The pitch looks good for batting and if we can put a good score on this track we have capable bowlers to put enough pressure on the Aussies.

Tony Grieg: We know you are resting Bond due to him not still able to prove his fitness yet. Interesting to see Vettori play along side Murali.

Fleming : Bond unfortunately has a niggle or two but should be fine for the next game. We thought a variety of spin would help us on this track and also Vettori?s performance in the recent ODI series in England helped his cause for selection.

Tony Grieg : Good luck then to you guys. Look forward to an exciting game of cricket.

Tony Grieg : Ricky, would you rather have batted on this track?

Ricky Ponting : It doesn?t really concern us either way their batting is strong enough to face us first or last. Our bowlers are looking forward to it and certainly were looking forward to making first use of the strip. The pitch looks good for batting although it may just favor the spinners a little bit. We may be able to judge the surface and then bat accordingly when our turn comes.

Tony Grieg : Warnie is definitely playing I suppose, is Bret Lee in the team too?

Ricky Ponting : (smiles) Warnie is eager to bowl to the likes of pretty much to all the batsmen they have. Bret Lee is sitting out this game and we have Ian Harvey playing this game for us. The pitch suits his style of bowling.

Tony Grieg : Good luck to you guys then. There we have the two tremendous teams locking horn in this first game of the 5 match ODI Super Challenge series.

P.S : I have decided to bowl the first 25 overs and bat the first 25 overs for Australia.

Good, accurate stuff from the Aussies...

Update after 10 overs

World XI has started tentatively Tendulkar in particular struggling to come to terms in the first few overs. Freddi looked in good touch while Tendulkar struggled. Freddi glanced, cut and hooked for fours while Tendulkar was subdued. At one point Tendulkar was on 2 off 23 balls:eek: Aussies were a touch wary of this kind of Tendulkar knowing fully well what he may end up doing if he could concentrate a little while longer. Freddi faced 23 balls while Tendulkar faced 39 balls and blocking at one end. Tendulkar cover drove Gillispie brilliantly for four to signal his arrival. While defensively pushing to the fielders he opened up and hit both McGrath and Gillispie for 4s over mid off and mid on. Freddi after having looked at Tendulkar hitting some lusty blows tried to despatch Gillispie over the bowlers head holed straight into the long off fielder for 17(26). The score at the end of 10 overs is 42/1 with Fleming joining Tendulkar 20(39, 3 fours). Aussies should continue to put pressure on Tendulkar and get him out as soon as possible. Tendulkar after having scored 2 off 24 balls has scored 18 runs off the last 15 balls he has faced.

McGrath and Gillispie have both bowled good spells beating Tendulkar's bat but conceeding 5 wides in all.

McGrath 5-0-18-0
Gillispie 5-0-24-1

This contest is turning out to be one great one really. Almost real life and the characters pretty much seem like they have virtually stepped on to the field. McGrath bowled an excellent spell troubling every batsman.

Fleming chanced his arm couple of times and came good. Shane Warne beat Fleming's bat couple of times in his first over but got swept away fine (that was one awesome sweep) for four. Just then Warne came back to beat his bat narrowly missing stumps. Harvey replaced McGrath and was hit around couple of times but ended up bowling Fleming for 18(19 balls, 3 fours). Then came the over when Tendulkar was facing up to Shane Warne. First ball spun so much Tendulkar had absolutely no clue what he was to do. The second one was a zooter he completely missed. Guess what, the third one he danced down the pitch hoisted Warnie over Sq leg for a four . The next ball Warnie promptly beat Tendulkar's bat. The very next ball Tendulkar rocked back to the back foot and pulled Warnie's wrong one through the backward sq leg for four. Isn't this a nostalgia, it reminds me of one phenomenon series couple of years ago.

That aside World XI are 84/2 after 17 overs with Tendulkar batting on 36*(61) and Kallis having just joined him.

This game is going to give me a heart attack today for sure if I continue to bowl the full 50 overs;) :D

Warnie bowled a maiden over to Tendulkar and then Harvey got Kallis out off the first ball of the next over. You guys wouldn't beleive this, Lara came out and blasted 3 boundries one sq cut, an on drive and a back foot cover drive driving me as well as Harvey crazy. If these two batsmen are at the crease by the 25th over Shailesh, you batting will be assuredly awesome. Tendulkar is fully settled and Lara's confidence meter is half way through. It can't get better by the time you get a hand on this game.;) :p

excellent updates Ravi, may be the chat Lara and Sachin were having during nets could come true?
:)

Sorry mate, I spoke a little too soon for your comfort. Lara got given out to a ball pitching outside leg and nowhere near the stumps off Symonds. Unlucky I guess, umpire must be the Ashocker Desilva.

Rahul Dravid has just now joined Tendulkar at the crease. Tendulkar is is switching his aggression on and off for some reason. Must be that chat in the dressing room to bat through out the inning. Both the batsmen are a little defensive atm maybe looking at the bigger picture. You still got one batsman who has full confidence, use him well.

Use the attached save game file.

As per bowling changes, rest Warnie for now. Bring on Clarke and keep Symonds going. Please feel free to change the bowlers as you please i.e, for my betterment.:D

S, you may need the Aussie team list too. Hang on for a sec. Its now attached, just in case.

I want to caution you against using the sweep shot one too often. Both the regular sweep shot as well as the paddle sweep will be played. In case you miss, the umpire will give you a send off straight away. Just use your judgement before going for a sweep.

The ball's turning a mile so you may want to take care too.

Also stay tuned for some very cool shots from Flem, Tendulkar and Lara.

Excellent updates Ravi, sounds like the patch is playing beautifully. Great stuff:cool: .

Looks good Mike, had tweaked the pacing a little bit for ver 12 to ensure CPU has enough wickets post 25 overs.
