What you've got isn't even flu, it's just a cold. I've got one at the moment, caused by the stress of Norwich losing to Ipswich. Unless you've been in contact with someone who has just come from Mexico then you are fine. And you won't die anyway.
Influenza kills, Lee, be it this Mexican strain (under a microscope the flu cells look like they are wearing ponchos) or your "normal" flu. There are actually 3 types of flu: A, B & C. C is the one which people say, "Oh you've just got a cold", as the symptoms are very similar. A can lead to hospitalisation.
As someone said, Kev, I think, cases outside Mexico have just been ordinary strains of flu, but of this swine flu strain. Which to me suggests the strain isn't that badly mutated yet, probably exacerbated by the poor living conditions found in Mexico.
I don't get what's so dangerous about this. The symptoms are supposed to be similar to regular influenza. Even if you go shag a pig and contract it, there's enough medecine to go around.
It's just another SARS, Bird Flu 'epidemic'. You have to feel sorry for these poorer countries. They always contract it first and no-one really cares until it reaches the USA/UK/Europe.
