TAOC Alpha Pre-Release Thread

Every one knows staff and admin defended codis in ever possible way when they sold us SH…..t. and that’s y I lost my interest on this forum like many did. Its good that you learn from your mistakes. After all this forum is for FANS not some greedy sh..t selling publishers !!!
I'll support someone making a game with some passion for it. It is only because TAOC is not a commercial product that it hasn't been forced to rush out a poorly finished game.

The guys at Transmission did a brilliant job with AC09 and by working with them as I and the other staff did shows how dedicated to making a good game they were. But it also showed us the commercial realities of a project. You see all the whingers on here about a slight delay in this alpha? For AC09 that would have been the shareholders and publishers, and unlike people on here, they get listened to, for better or worse.

Once you see the games developing from the inside you get a much better perspective on things. TAOC will face and has faced similar issues, its non commercialism has helped it get this far, but will hold it back in many ways as well.

I joined this site because of TAOC and have been following them the entire time, I'm desperate to see them do well after seeing all the effort put in to the game. But I know that for whatever success TAOC achieves, they will remain outshadowed by the big commercial games. Now I could look at that from a mindset of hating the greedy publishers, or I could do what I currently do and try and work with them to make sure the games that do get made are good.

I still believe that by continuing to purchase cricket games you will show there to still be a market for them. Currently, cricket games developers will be looking at the success of AC09 on the Wii, a rubbish game that was hacked together in a few months from BLIC07, and decide that the full scale investment in a game like AC09 was on the other platforms just isn't worth it.

Putting all the eggs in the TAOC basket is a dangerous thing. TAOC must not be the end of an era for cricket games, it should instead mark new goalposts for commercial games to achieve.

99% of your fans dont care about "looks". We just want to see the physics and shot placement.

I disagree. Those who know the game will realise that its not the looks but those who find the alpha release will start sprouting loads of rubbish. Just look at cricket revolution, it was aimed at fans for the gameplay and then everyone started complaining the graphics weren't up to scratch.

My advice to Paul is just release whatever you feel comfortable with there's no point releasing something now that's going to put people off the final product but there's no point releasing a product that doesn't express the best points of the game. Just go with the flow.

Few videos now could be better to kill some time:)

A video from filming to the time its able to be downloaded will take a few hours and will lat a few seconds. So knock back the developments for a few seconds of stuff we'll be able to simulate soon anyway? Pointless.

I am just going by what people have been posting in the TAOC threads. Most people say they only care about gameplay but you could be right. Once the game is out people might get a reality check on the graphics , esp after playing AC09

People who cry about the graphics are just retards or spoiled kids. Just ignore them when they come

Still, it is important. Not as much as Gameplay or AI but I want my games looking good.

I didn't hated cricket revolution becuase of the graphic.
I didn't enjoy it because it was on only on PC, or else it was a alright game.

I have been doing a lot of work on performance optimization as well and I am very happy with the framerates we are seeing. I can tell you that on the absolute highest graphics settings, with full AA and AF enabled, the game looks pretty damned good. I don’t think people will be disappointed with the graphics per se.

The crowds are a different story, lol, but I think people will be pleasantly surprised by how crisp and clear the graphics are. The screens and vids we post do not do justice to a full-screen, 60FPS, highest gfx mode being played first hand. Anyway, enough of my touting, you guys can judge for yourselves once it is released.

Not a good idea, what if something comes up and he cant make it. Then people will think they have a "right" to bitch

its mint but gets frustrating all waiting and build up.

True, but if people have waited years, what a few days. Plus its free!

People still have a right to complain even if its free. Promising something and then not delivering is wrong whatever the circumstance.

Promising to punch someone and then not punching them. Check mate :laugh

Chances are it still may not be free. And you know what, if it's ████, it won't matter if it's free or not.

Whinger or not, 5 years of development with the game being nowhere close to setting a competition date - and then announcing an Alpha, which then goes on to follow the same release trend as the full-fledged promised game - yeah, totally fills me up with hope.
