After the end of the SROL WTCC, TPM has entered into the SROL Megane Trophy series. Kev was kind enough to do a couple of liveries:

PHTCC08_Valencia.jpg

Just over two hours to go and things are looking good for the Team Pasty Muncher SEAT Leon, unlike the cars qualifying setup, which suffered the indignity of being slower than the race setup. Things aren't looking so good for the BMW of Justin Allison, as he currently sits 3.4 seconds off the pace of his team-mates Leon.

At the moment, it looks like both cars will actually be racing for the first time this season!!

Mixed weekend for TPM at Valencia in the end. I was setting the pace in practice (by .8 of a second!!!) until some chap turned up, not raced in the PHTCC thus far and smashed my time by nearly a second. Most people were amazed, I was in shock! The championship leader even accused him of using a bug to his advantage, but his was alone on that one. So with hopes of competing for the win on pace out the window, I settled down for qualifying, aiming to get on the front row, which I did quite comfortably in the end (.7 off pole!). Justin finally got his BMW to behave (for a lap or two anyway ;)) and he ended up fourth on the grid, 1.4 down on pole position.

Race one was a very lonely affair for me, which didn't surprise me. For the opening couple of laps I drove the wheels off the car, and was still only just clinging onto the tail of the leader, until he decided to floor it and disappeared into the distance.

The lead up to race two was a complete shambles. The German admins well and truly lost the plot in trying to get it running and ended up making a number of mistakes in setting up the grid and setting weight penalties. The biggest mistake they made was not giving the championship leader his success ballast (80kg), so he'd gone from being over a second off the pace, to the second fastest drive in the field. When the race finally got under way, about 45 minutes after the end of race one, I'd lost all my concentration and focus, mainly because I was so frustrated at the mess they made of getting it all going, and not telling the English speakers in the race what was going on. I couldn't find the same pace as in race one, or practice, or qualifying, simply because I was so worked up. I ended up finishing sixth.

Justin found himself equally frustrated by the lack of updates and the mess they made of the whole thing. To add to his frustrations he was sent to the tyre walls no less than three times during the two races. He would go on to finish in 15th in race one, and 11th in race two.

Even though I missed the races at Zandvoort, I'm 4th in the championship on 26 points, Justin is 15th on 8 points.

Justin may go into more detail about his weekend, but be warned if he does, it won't be pretty. ;)

EDIT: On the BTCC, I'm going to have to re-run Silverstone race three as I lost the log file of the race results and the replay after I had to reinstall the game. :(

Well it has to be said that that was one of the worst events in my life of online racing. I was off-pace for much of the time, and asked for a a set-up from someone else (in another league myself and stevie race in people are happy to exchange) and pretty much got the cold shoulder. So I went on, until a new person - brother of the super quick guy - sent me a setup and I was back, only 6th fastest but that was better than 16th.

When it came to qualy I continued my form from the Zandvoort event where I was 10th fastest and held pole for a while but eventually ended up 2nd, so I was 4th but the grid was tight.

The top 4 broke away from the field at the rolling start like they were sleeping, but after 3 or 4 laps I had a lapse in concentration and spun, which bumbed me down to a very messy midfield - if you ever need an example to qualify well and stay upfront it was this midpack - I caught a little bunch of cars battling and after a lap or so one of them ran wide, allowing me to get alongside one of them, then into a sharp right hander right in the braking zone he came across and sideswiped me off track, and from then on it was pure hell. I was now pretty much last, and was chasing a car down again and managed to catch him after a while and passed him, I pulled a gap made a slight error and he was back on me and stuck it up the inside of a fast T1 and understeered into me, which put me 2nd last for the race. And thats where I finished.

Then there was the farce of waiting for race two to get underway and being told 'is it to hard for you?' when asking if the driver that hit off off track saw me. I was particularly ticked off when he replied 'I saw enough of your' in one of my other enquires to list it as pretty deliberate. The server farce did help me though, it bumped me up the grid quite nicely, but I don't think anyone appreciated it, when my cold brakes caused me to rear-end the guy ahead of me resulting in a T1 melee. I came out a little ahead but was rammed rather violently up the rear later in the lap putting me last. I think that knock, knocked some drive and concentration back into me. from there I salvaged 11th.

Quite disapointed with the whole weekend after my result at Zandvoort, which got me decent points after missing Curitiba.
