Team Pasty Muncher takes on the world[rFactor & GTR2]

Anyone who's been following the BTCC stuff will realise there hasn't been an update on that in a while. I've not given up on it, infact I've been doing some work on some of the cars to make it more accurate to real life. On top of that ofcourse I've been doing quite alot of other racing!

Well, today is the day, the first race of the SROL Enduro Series. Qualifying begins 8pm UK time.

I'm pleased to announce a second TPM Audi R8 will be taking part in the race, the no 42 driven by Paul Pope. The no. 18 car will still contain myself and Justin. ;)

I'll be qualifying the car (unless he somehow beats my practice times! :p) and he'll be starting the race. I'll be taking over the car somewhere around half distance as I have done quite alot of night time driving, whereas Justin hasn't.

Thought I'd do a quick update on the way things have been going after being abit slack. :p

SROL Enduro series
Two hours of Daytona
After running brialliantly during practice, setting the pace in the week before the race, hopes were high we would have a good run on race day. Qualifying went to plan, with me sticking the car on pole position. I then gave control to Justin during the warm up session, as he would be starting the race. At this point he tells me the race setup isn't loaded on his car. This would wreck any chance we had of doing well. As the race started, our fears were confirmed, the race setup had indeed not loaded itself and we were left doing 170mph when other LMP's (and GT cars) were doing 190+. Justin fought on, doing a great job in the circumstances. He brought the car in after around 45 minutes and I took over. I scrolled through the pit menu and soon found the downforce settings were ridiculously high. Unfortunately the settings couldn't be changed until the next pit stop, so I brought it in the next lap, changed the settings and we were finally up to speed on the straights! The car still wasn't the same in the corners, but atleast we could now run with everyone else on pace.

As the race wore on, we moved up the field, passing the GT cars that took advantage of the situation we were in and gaining positions through the couple of LMP retirements. In the end we fought back to finish a frustrating fourth, four laps down and a more thorough read of the driver swap procedure ensued!!

The no. 42 TPM Audi R8 failed to finish after a number of problems, the car finally gave up the ghost with around 25 minutes remaining.

Two hours of Spa-Francorchamps
Justin had informed me that he couldn't take part in this race due to "other" commitments, leaving me to run the two hours on my own. Throughout the build up, TPM held a 1-2 during the majority of the test sessions, setting a pace no other team could match. Everything went to plan during qualifying once again, with the team locking out the front row by a couple of seconds!

We both got away from the start in 1st and 2nd, however, my team-mate was under heavy pressure from the 3rd place Courage C60 and unfortunately went off at Les Combes (turn 4) and hit the wall hard. The damage suffered would eventually lead to the cars retirement after only 25 minutes. Meanwhile I was easing away from the field, setting a pace that was atleast a couple of seconds per lap faster than 2nd place. I didn't set the fastest lap of the race until the hour mark (halfway), which showed how well the car was handling and coping with wear. I backed off abit in the second hour, but still pulled away from the field. I would eventually go on to take victory by nearly two minutes, partly making up for the problems of Daytona!

SROL Megane Eurocup Series

After only entering for rounds 5 and 6 (also missed 11 & 12 through being ill), I've managed to collect 208 points, with 3 wins, 3 2nd places, 2 3rd places and 3 pole positions and currently lie 4th in the standings. Only one event to go in this series, at Taruma in Brazil. The end of the series is almost immediately followed by the SROL Megane Endurance Series which I will also be entering!

Now onto my favourite part of the update.....

SROL British Touring Car Championship 2008

The return of touring car racing! TPM will be entering the series, once again with the SEAT Leon. More details to follow when I get them. You'll get to see the car later. :p

Nice, sexy car there Stevie. Could you just give me a run down of what's going on in your story. I know it's about Touring Cars but that's about all I know :p

It's basically me just having a place to write about my racing exploits! If I have some time to spare (or if I can be bothered), I write in here. It's not just about touring cars either, the last update was mainly about an endurance racing series I'm running in, which is sportcars. :)

Nice. Is it all online then? And I take it that you use a range of racing games not just the one?

PS: Your a Bristol City fan aint ya Stevie? If so, TOP OF THE LEAGUE!

Mostly online, do the odd offline race, but that is somewhat restricted by poor AI. The online league I'm a member of currently only uses the one game, however, there are loads and loads of mods and tracks avaible for it. As a motorsport fan, you could almost get away with just having rFactor.

I've got several other racing games though, being GTR 2, F1 Challenge 99-02, Race 07, Grand Prix 3 and 4, Superbike 2000. Got more but I won't bore you. ;)

Damn right!! :D

lol. Ok, will check the thread then seeing as I have a good idea of what's going on. I take it your quite a good player seeing as I remember you winning a lot of the time in the past?

Looking forward to the 2008 Touring Car season :)

I'm quite good, but I'm far from being the quickest around!

Because I'm bored, I'm making videos of laps around all the tracks we're using the upcoming BTCC. :D

Here's the first two:

Silverstone International

Brands Hatch Indy

Crushing win for TPM at Sebring

Yep, a second consecutive for me in the no. 18 TPM Audi R8, this time winning by a lap! Not alot to write about really. I took pole by a country mile after one of my best laps and then won the race by a lap! My team mate managed to qualify third on the grid. He got a great start and jumped past second place and even went round the outside of me through turn 1, but then spun almost infront of me in turn 2! I narrowly avoided him and never looked back. He would go on to finish in fourth. I've now led the last 119 laps in the series and lead the championship by 10 points I believe. Looking good! :)

What happened to your co-driver? I thought the enduros were going to be a team event.

Also should I recognise that previously unreleased Gulf racing Aston thats smashed into the wall?
