Test Cricket tweak

Hopefully we have arrived at a pretty much the perfect CPU batting files now. I started a game against playing as NZ against Zimbabwe, got two quick wickets of Vermulen 15 and Wishart 14. The second wicket fell on 38 but from then on CPU has batted absolutely brilliantly to reach 114/2 with Flower batting on 42 and Carlisle on 38. I have to say by far this has been the most smart and an excellent batting display by Zimbabwe. This match is being played on hard pitch on a good sunny and a warm day.

Check your email Mani, Ive sent the file you wanted.

So Ravi are you sending these new files  Great work there.
And mani and jonah make sure you test these files on the pitch other than hard because Ravi has already tested on it.And ravi tell me which pitch should I play.
I think I can play on Normal

I look forward to sending these ones, they are pretty good but just that I dont want to jump the gun a bit too fast. Give me till tomorrow to flush out any issues that may arise when I play another game on a hard surface against a better opposition. Zimbabwe now are 243/6 off 44 overs, I did a masterstroke by bringing on Bond when Cairns took Flower out for 76, Bond has not only cut runs but got couple more wickets although Carlisle is going great guns at the moment. I will see how the next 4 overs go and also play another game and see if the CPU ends up scoring a mamooth target which we do not want it to. Once I am happy with those then will certainly send the files across to you guys as I do not want to be making changes every now and then after it gets to you guys.

Amber, Mani and Jonah meanwhile can you guys test the batting setup files on different pitches. We dont want to be leaving these for now, we should better get those sorted while I test the current ones.

Can someone tell me if I autoplay the old scorecard will be lost is it? How disappointing is it not be able to see the full scorecard of the 1st inning of a ODI once you autoplay the batting?

Anyways, Zimbabwe ended up scoring 283/9 in their 50 overs which was bloody good by any standards. Looks like we are almost there, I started another game playing as NZ against the OZs. There have been couple of edges here and there but not carrying, also the openers mistimed few shots to start with but now they are very well settled. See the difference the Australia in contrast to Zimbabwe seem to be playing with confidence although I missed Vettori so much in the last game.

The files are looking good guys, just this game and another against India Ill be done testing  . You guys can then get ready to test these. Really, its nothing like playing the OZs even in Cricket 2002. The openers settled down nicely and looking for singles every ball yeah..... Vettori bowls Hyden with a snotter of a delivery :band: . Big spin with absolutely no pace at all and CPU tries a front foot Straight drive misses the line and the stumps uprooted  . Bring it on now I say, then beat Ponting's bat few times and he is clearly struggling to get the bat to the ball but my bloody bowling on the pads of his has now settled him down somewhat  . This is turning out to be a good bowling game now (fingers crossed) or is it one off(?????) :o .

Have a look at the score and run rate, doesnt it look good for now? This game is being played on a normal pitch on a warm and sunny day.

Thats 100 to Gilchrist, well batted. It really was an exciting inning to watch as well although this is the best I have bowled I have to say. When Vettori got the first wicket, after just few overs when I saw Ponting struggling I brought back Bond who again delivered when needed. He got two quick wickets in a 3 over spell conceding not much runs. Bevan came out playing confident shots without mistiming many as Ponting did but the ball nicely carried to Fleming. Keeping the slip in place even when the runs were flowing was a good move, Fleming snapped two catches. From then I thought here we go yet again a collapse but things were a little different this time around. Lehmann strode to the crease with lot of confidence placing the balls nicely in the gaps while Gilchrist was content defending and also looking for singles. Its only 39 overs I have bowled but the CPU has outthought me every other time, I plug a gap it picks a new gap although I have done really well since conceding 100 in under the fir 17-18 overs. Notice there are only 8 fours in Gilchrist inning amounting to only 1/3rd of his runs scored, does this change fix the issue you had Amber with CPU trying to score in 4s always. Although this is just another test and nothing more, though this result is looking good enough for now this will need more testing for sure against other nations and on different conditions.

Looking very very good Ravi.First wk fell on 96.And at least now a CPU player gets a 100.Ravi , when you play against India play on normal pitch because hard is always good for batting.

Looking good
Keep it up

Ravi , I have tested the batting files on Normal and Green pitches. So far both have been good.

And sorry , I did'nt notice that you were already playing on a normal pitch against aus

And it is encouraging to see that the strike rate of CPU batsman is not always above 100.(Even for a century maker

The Innings ended on 257/9 after 50 overs. The CPU did last 50 overs and with style. I created a record by getting a hat-trick :band: (Martyn, Harvey & Gillespie) in the last over. I didnt like the way CPU batted in that particular over :fyou: as there were 3 stumpings, 1 catch to a fielder, 1 single and a six. how often does this happen in real life  . I am happy about the hattrick :P although the CPU did not go flat out till the 48th over and I suppose I am not going to fix that.

Highlight of this game was 2 catches to the slip, 1 to the keeper, Gilchrist brilliant 100  , he could have carried on but he got out to Harris in the 49th over trying a huge heave over midwicket and was caught. A solitary bowled, stumping, no bowlers could dominate although Vettori came good when it really needed to pull the run rate back a bit. Harris' swing bowling also helped but it could never dominate CPU's batting. Overall it was very satisfying to bowl the full 50 overs but for those 4 wickets in the ultimate over. I dont mind a wicket or two but losing 4 wickets is simply not excusable, I will try to fix that one for sure. The score is as real as it can be given batting second and chasing 260 runs against Australia is not going to be easy. I am not sure if I will bat out this game probably I will autoplay it and see if similar scores are posted by India by playing another game. But for now am really exhausted and need a break :throw: . Let me know what you guys feel, I am sure you guys can get a feel of the game looking at the scorecard and other details.

It's hard to catch up with what you're talking about. :shutup2:

I agree the CPU was a bit too aggressive but you will need to wait till the update to the patch is sent to you guys to have a go at bowling. The CPU is now made a lot stronger and will try to bat out without trying to accelarate a bit too much in the first 15 overs trying to preserve the wickets. I want to make doubly sure that it is so before sending out the new patch set. Please wait for it and meanwhile I only wanted to know how you guys are coping with batting using the patch.

Also what do you mean by bowling at the pads, it had to be online with the stumps to bowl the CPU out right. Are you meaning you bowled non stop yorkers, let me know if it is so.

I am playing another game now against India on a normal pitch with good weather conditions. I autoplayed NZ inning to 287 off 50 overs, India has begun chasing very positively. They are now 61/1 off 10 overs with Tendulkar 18*(30) and Gangooly 2*(6) at the crease. Shewag scored a brisk 37(28) and got out to Harris in the 9th over. So far this patch is looking good for even CPU chasing the total, will keep the scores updated.
