hey Pingusten - can you explain how you managed to make the AI not open w. the spin bowlers in the tests even though you didnt drop the spinners ratings? and what abt the field settings - is this related to the attributes somehow?
you mentioned you just dropped the power rating for the batsman..anything else?? -thx
Well it seems to me that the spinners attributes don't have to be changed. My own theory is that the computer takes into account the batsmans stats somehow, but tbh I think by hitting the right batsmans stats, I fluked it a bit!!
The field settings seem also to be linked to the batsman. I did some research about where they placed the field in relation to the batsman with my patch and then without it.
I found that the higher the batsmans power (of course very high in the original config), the more fielders the AI packed into the boundary. This of course meant that Freddie Flintoff came onto strike and they'd all start standing on the boundary, generally aknowledged as a bug.
With the lowered power attribute however, they seem to bring players closer in on the batsman. At one point, i had a silly point off Shane Bond, and was caught bad pad, trying to go for a drive that wasn't there because the field was so tight.
To put it bluntly, I think the game uses the batmans attributes to set its fields depending on power.
I don't think they take in the situation of the game though, which is a bit dissapointing.
For everyone else, I will be uploading an ODI fix tomorrow evening. I'm going through a lot of testing today.
