Ashraf Ali was ahead of his time, in the sense he was a batsman first and keeper second. Test average of 45 and FC average of 38. Won't be keeping wicket either, so he can focus on his batting.

Arnberger never got Aussie recognition, but what he did do was average 40 at First Class level. With a strong top six around him, he's fine as a second opener. I also considered Tom Andrews (the 20th century one) but I'd have had to open with Ackerman in that case.
