The A Team

This is such a tough one because I have two guys who I doubt will fall. But I'm more confident in the other guy sliding than I am in Aislabie not picking Ewart Astill. A deceptive medium pacer, good with the bat but outstanding (2500 career wickets) with the ball.

:afg: :bat: Asghar Afghan was a very mediocre white-ball batter, but against the red ball he really came into his own: from admittedly small sample sizes, his Test and first-class batting averages both sit at 44. Also very considerate of him to change his surname so I could pick him in this draft, really coming in clutch.

With Geoff Arnold being taken by @ahmedleo414 , I will go ahead with another Arnold instead, :eng: Ted Arnold who can bat as well instead. He has 24 FC hundreds at and average of 30 and over 1,000 FC Wickets at an average of 23.

...and now for the second pick, as @Aislabie would describe it, "That is crafty"

:sri: :bat: Russel Arnold was a mediocre Test batter, but he's my mediocre Test batter. Also has a good record opening the batting.

:ind: :ar: Mushtaq Ali will be the first of my two opening batters; with a memorable career that stretched either side of World War Two, his very best years were lost to international cricket. Despite that, he still put together a respectable record, especially as an opener. His left-arm spin will do a job as my second spinner, although I don't expect him to shoulder much of the wicket-taking burden.
