The Android Discussion Thread

I did a hard reset but that didn't seem to help. I unrooted, and reflashed stock ROM and so far I haven't had problems. I'm staying unrooted till my warranty expires because now I have Knox on the phone, which would be triggered on anything which Samsung doesn't like.
Thanks for the help everyone, appreciated.

If this is a system app, then you can go to Settings>Apps>All and try disabling it...It may work and you may still be rooted(if you want).

No, Knox is a binary flag used by Samsung to detect any warranty violations. Once triggered, till now there is no way of bringing it back to normal.

@Abhas

1) Is there a method of downloading free apps from google play as 'apk' to pc ?
I want to do this because I have a slow internet connection on my mobile. On other hand i have a good internet broadband connection for my pc.

2) Is there a provision to install apps from google play to my mobile using the internet of my pc ? (except WiFi)

I'm not sure if you can download APKs from Google play. I'll have to check if it's possible.
Do you have a wired connection? I'm not use it's possible. You can create a Wifi Hotspot from your computer and connect your Phone to it, if your computer has a provision for wifi.

My cell doesn't charge. How do I know if it's a battery problem or a problem with the charging circuit? The charger works though.

Which phone?
Is the battery removable? Check if it is inflated. Keep it on a flat surface and see if it spins.
Most likely it's a battery problem.. What does the phone say when you plug it in?

HTC Incredible S. The battery isn't inflated, though I faced overheating issues before.

My phone is switched off now since the battery is exhausted. Few days before it wouldn't charge, I could only charge it when the cellphone was switched off. If the cellphone was on it said the cell is using more charge that what the charger provides.

I went to the HTC service center in Andheri, they told me since I bought it outside India I'd have to go to Kurla to get it repaired (main center) and they would give me a new battery (obviously at a cost) if there's a battery problem.

Have you tried using a different charger/cable? If your phone is using more charge than your charger is able to provide, it could mean a problem with the charger..

I have tried a Samsung charger, my friend's HTC charger and the problem persists, I've tried in my many plug points as well, and my charger can my sister's cellphone quite well. So it's definitely not the charger's problem. I guess it's the battery.

Might be. My S4 doesn't charge with a lot of chargers, it doesn't give out any message, but just doesn't charge.

Bluetooth tethering is possible, but I don't think you can tether the computer's net connection with it.
Does your computer have a wifi card?

----------

You don't need a wifi modem to make a hotspot.
