The Apple iPad

:laugh:o

Granted I was lying down and just hacking away at the keys. This post is off the iPad in a more 'suitable' position so it is just fine.

Anyways, hard to convince anyone if they have a predetermined mindset about anything. You guys can all mudsling while I enjoy the iPad and everything it has to offer :)

The iPad looks good (I mean the physical appearence). Also saw AR Rahman (music composer of Slumdog Millionaire, legendary music director from India) show some of the apps that he frequently uses on the iPad. After seeing that video of his, I am more tempted to get this toy.

Apparently he's bought multiple iPads to distribute to friends/family back in India. Great stuff.

It is a great little machine, I must say. Great for school, all my electronic notes are now in one place. Saves me soo much paper (just accumulates over the semester, I have like 5 huge boxes of scrap paper and notes from all my classes from just this year). Ink is saved too. It is really paper replacement. I have found kindle/ibook/ebook versions of a few of my AP textbooks so I can leave a copy at school or my car and work with the iPad. Saves my back like 25lbs of lugging daily!

Can't wait until there is a good notetaking app. And some pen like device.

Cricketman added 3 Minutes and 16 Seconds later...

Oh, and the jailbreak is simply awesome! Backgrounder works like a charm, and now I have multitasking working beautifully. Much better than my android phone I must say. Games aren't half bad either!

^ All that and more was possible with the Tablet PC's we used in our HS in 2004/5. The only difference is that the device looks nicer and has less functionality.

When you go to college, you will quickly realize that you either want to stick to paper or a laptop unless you're a liberal arts major.

Agree, an iPad would be no use at university because you can't write notes fast enough. Unless you have one of the keyboard attachments, but then you've basically got a laptop that can do **** all.

Okay, mom asked what I want for graduation? I said, let me think about it. Should i get a ipad? I was gonna wait for it to come out with the next version. I know they will come with a cam, as soon as i buy it. So should I buy it?

Don't buy it... get an iPhone 4 instead. :D

Honestly, though, early adopters of the iX products (minus the iPod) have always been stung a couple of years later by Apple. The iPhone EDGE (which was released 3 years ago) is now not receiving any new OS features because they are limited by hardware. The 3G (which was released just 2 years ago) is also quickly falling out of favor. Going by this trend, next year the 3GS will be receiving only trivial updates.

You know that Apple has a track record of releasing their iOS products every year. You already know iOS 4 supports FaceTime so it's almost inevitable that the next iPad is going to have a camera. So I'd wait until the hardware spec fleshes out a bit and it becomes useful since now it's just a toy.

I'd agree with Sohum here. The iPad's are only going to get better as the years roll by, and the iPhone's are testament to that.

I got the iPhone today, and boy, is it good! The screen is so good, its almost fake!

Sohum, you brain-washer! Cleared my mind. :p

It's soo hard to stay up to date with this

Well, the thing is you gotta balance in technology between waiting too long and purchasing for the present. In technology, undoubtedly a new gadget you buy is going to get outdated pretty soon. The thing with Apple is that they have been fairly consistent with their releases:

iPhone EDGE: June 2007
iPhone 3G: July 2008
iPhone 3GS: June 2009
iPhone 4: June 2010

I'm assuming they're going to be doing the same thing with the iPad, especially since it uses the same OS as the iPhone. All the new camera-enabled features aren't going to be limited just to the iPhone, methinks, as the whole webcam-on-the-go is one market where I think the iPad may actually be a good idea. FaceTime on the iPad would be great, which is why I think Apple released it now to work out the chinks with it before releasing it for the iPad next year (although they may forego that entirely and just release a camera attachment or something).

With most technological gadgets, I'd suggest to buy now and enjoy or you will spend a lifetime waiting. With Apple stuff, they've been relatively consistent with releasing new products and dropping support for old ones, so it pays to wait for one that has the complete feature set.

I will just wait until it comes out with a cam. Probably next year, black Friday:p.

But for now, what about those HTC stuff? I have no clue about them. They had HTC, then HTC HD2, then there is another htc droid. =S

I am gonna need a new phone any ways, thinking about T-Mobile. Tired of AT&T Verizon.

I have to say it'll look and feel very odd taking pictures using an iPad. I guess other than FaceTime, it'll serve limited purpose. I expect all the new iPhone hardware and developments to be incorporated into the next iPad, including a more powerful RAM.

Atleast Apple products are good to go for a whole year. Android devices seem to be coming out every week these days.

That's because Apple is not equivalent with Android. Android is an OS, Apple is a hardware+OS manufacturer. If other companies were allowed to bundle iOS on their devices, I'm sure you'd see a lot more iOS devices coming along.
