The Apple Thread

It made me laugh when I read - 'iPhone 6 met its worst enemy, tight pants!'

LOL, this is what it will lead to if you try to make an iPad like phone. Apple is going backward release by release.

Well, Apple just got sucked by that big market share of Android (which is primarily driven by larger screen size phones) and so, decided to toe the line by producing phones with larger screen size.

Also, I dont think the iPhone 6 should be the problem phone. I am guessing its the iPhone 6 Plus which should be the problem phone with its gigantic screen size (for a phone). Never been a fan of larger screen phones. Even 4.7" looks large to me. Apple had it perfect at 4". Hope someday, all phones come back down in screen size and improve the display quality instead of expanding screen sizes.

Yeah it was that plus edition which I was referring to. :) Trying to imitate Android really makes me worried since iOS7 as they have lost that innovative factor even though their caption lines say innovative design and blah blah.

You will hear a lot of those "too big for my pants" thing even though the Note and its like have seen this problem for long now. Its just that the huge no of Apple loyalists are getting first taste of these jumbo phablets from their favorite manufacturer.

Hope the 6+ is a flop and Apple just reverts back to a 4" (and keep the 4.7" as its larger screen counterpart).

The problem with the 6+ was the material that was used.

The larger screen is not the problem. Its the darn Aluminium casing and that 'slim' factor that bends it.if you observe, larger screened phones seem usually thick..whereas Apple tried something new,it backfired on them. This really shows us why a larger screened phone does not make any sense for them.

About the only chance of there being a 4" device in the future would be if the 5C replacement keeps that smaller size, and even then will still be a generation behind specs wise.

The market has already shown that people want large screen phones, it's just a matter of how long they stick at making smaller ones.

I use iPhone 5, what happened to your original charger that came with the phone? Using it for long time & have never have any troubles to use that charger in car or lappy or the direct plug sockets!

For me it gets those rings on the wires after few weeks of use, and then after more days you have to move it to a certain position to make it work, after more days it completely stops. It seemed like I wasn't the only one, there were more on the Apple website sharing their reviews on the similar note. Well you're lucky you're in the US.

For me, my iphone 5 charger worked good for around year and a half and then it started to get worn out near the usb connector end, so went to best buy to get a new apple charger but instead found something better:
Apple Lightning Cable | 3 Meter Straight | Griffin Technology

I really like the griffin company. It's a 3m heavy duty cable which I hope will last longer than apple charger. I have seen similar problem in iphone and mac chargers even with my in-laws, though mine last longer, but still think apple need to make a charger which can take strain to some extent.

Anyone played around with Yosemite much yet? Just upgrading now, it'll probably be a little odd but I'm sure I'll get over it :)

Its so much wierd. Being a very staunch fan of iPhones, I have not obviously taken up that love into their desktop/laptop OS (maybe due to the cost factor, since Macbooks cost a fortune). And unlike Apple's competitors in their mobile world (mainly Android), in the computer world, Microsoft is a giant player offering as stable an OS and the experience of using a Windows OS across various computer manufacturers are pretty much similar. Whereas in the mobile world, using the Android OS across various manufacturers brings with it varied experiences which throws me away from it.

Sorry for the slight off topic rant. Seeing the previews of Yosemite, like the fact that Apple is standardizing the looks of their OS across all their devices. Yosemite seems to be adopting the iOS 7+ flatter look.

You see I'm the reverse; I love the Mac thing to bits while much preferring Android to iOS. OS X has a bunch of stuff that I couldn't live without: the whole multiple desktops/full screen apps/mission control thing makes doing stuff a bunch easier, integrated backup software that works without hours of setup, integrated software that's actually useful rather than just shit that clogs up your computer (the only reason I use MS Word 2011 over Pages is because of a lack of integrated reference handling, which is pretty mandatory if you're doing essays for a social studies degree); the fact that the thing takes less time to wake up from sleep than it takes me to lift the lid up and a bunch more. Its a better OS IMO. The only thing that Windows has is touchscreen support, which I must admit I really don't see the point of in a PC when you have an OS that isn't designed for touch screens... I'd love to have the cool features that Apple give you when you have an iPhone and Mac, but I don't like the idea that a certain company can tell me what I can and can't install on my phone which apple do by locking you to the App Store. As soon as they try that with Mac (which they won't because I'd imagine that the vast majority of Mac users agree with me) I'd be done with them right then...

I've been running Yosemite since the first public beta. I think it looks nice but I don't use my macbook enough to utilise many of its other features

My mum uses a 4S which is facing battery issues. Since the model is discontinued now, if we went in for repair/replacement, would Apple offer to upgrade us to iPhone 5, for whatever fee they charge normally to repair an out of warranty phone?

Finally got my iPhone 6 two days back! Lovin' it. Yes, getting used to the larger screen with iOS but since I have tried my hand at some Android phones recently (e.g. HTC One M8, LG G2, etc.), the big screen is not a pain point. Got the 128Gb Gold version as AT&T in USA sells it for $28/month on the 24 month Next plan and gives you a $25/mo credit for having a Mobile Share Value plan; basically making you pay only $3/mo on the 128Gb iPhone 6. Having the 128Gb is a big plus since my music keeps growing and I always have to make the trade off by deleting certain albums/songs. Now I can happily store them up.

My last one was the iPhone 5, so this is my first experience with Touch ID and its freakin' awesome to use. I can now set a complex password as backup for my Touch ID (earlier setting complex passwords meant I had to type them in every time to unlock; now with Touch ID, I only have to enter them when the phone restarts or if my Touch ID for some reason stops working which almost never happens, at least for now). The higher resolution on the iPhone 6 compared to the iPhone 5 means that apps/images/videos all look sharper and with more clarity. Haven't made use yet of features like the M8 processor. The phone feels far more snappier and quicker than the iPhone 5. And previously, I used to plug in every night at 25-30%. Now I am plugging it in every night at 45-50%.

Any Apple watch buyers in here who were able to look beyond the irony of its 18-hour battery life ?
