The Apple Thread

Any Apple watch buyers in here who were able to look beyond the irony of its 18-hour battery life ?

Does anyone really care about the first iteration of the Apple Watch? Wonder why a company like Apple needed to hurry into the Watch industry? Could have easily taken more time to build a better lasting product.

I think it will take 3-4 iterations for Apple to probably get this right. Until then, I am not buying this. Smartwatches are still in the "highly luxury" category. It will take a lot more time to hit mass consumption.

Don't even wear a watch anymore...

I just bought myself an ipad air 2. Don't even wear a watch anymore...

Same here. I also don't watches anymore. Its just so easy to pull out your smartphone to check the time. And these days, there are either clocks everywhere or there are the computer screens (esp. in work meetings) which show up the time at the bottom that you absolutely do not need to wear a watch if you just want to check the time.

I love to wear a watch, but the regular mechanical variety. Check my phone to see the time, but wear the watch nevertheless.
I don't think the smart watches are priced exorbitantly to be honest. Look at a decent mechanical watch, it's not going to cost us less than $500, and if we compare features, well, the watch only tells the time, and possibly a chronograph which nobody uses. The smart watch on the other hand has much to offer.

That said, I wouldn't dream of wearing a smart watch just because I love the look and sound of a mechanical masterpiece.

Smart watches certainly do have a market, and most likely they would put the digital watches out of business in the foreseeable future if they are able to do something about the battery life. I mean, who would want to buy a Casio G-Shock anymore?

The most annoying thing about a smart watch? Don't we hate it when people we're with constantly look at their watches? Now get ready to see them immersed in them.
