Waiting for someone complaining about the pitch:spy

@wasteyouryouth except Bangladesh also have a decent set of spinners that can lead them to victory in home conditions for the most part (not withstanding recent events). They suffer from the same lack of potent bowlers in overseas conditions, the same issue of lack of quality batsmen to standup for themselves in overseas conditions.

Let's face it, at this point the English Test Side looks more and more like a rich man's Bangladeshi side. Fully waiting for @icyman's thread on why England should be stripped of test status in the near future. :spy

I find solace in the fact that India isn't the only side who makes a hero of a debutant :p
I'm guessing this gratitude isn't finished with yet. Maybe someone's grandmother will claim a hattrick?
That's so poor.

Nothing wrong with the pitches, if one side can bat on it then so can the other but I see what you mean. Would be poor form if they did.

I think Bangladesh beat England in a test match a while ago?

I'm waiting for Boycott's media rampage in the forthcoming days.

So I spent a little bit of time looking for modern Test openers who are comparable to England's current pair. This is what I found:

  1. :eng: :bat: Zak Crawley
  2. :eng: :bat: Haseeb Hameed
  3. :nzf: :bat: Blair Pocock
  4. :ban: :bat: Hannan Sarkar
  5. :zim: :bat: Stuart Matsikenyeri
  6. :wi: :bat: Adrian Griffith

Thank you for coming to my TED Talk

It was often said England wouldn't win a world cup until they took one day cricket seriously.

They won't win a test series until they take first class cricket seriously.

That was Australia in 2017.

Edit: Oh yes, England lost in 2016!
Everyone has recently, Ireland too!!!

Sadly T20 is the money spinner and most of our batsman are looking over their shoulder at their IPL contracts which, being honest, is lucrative.

I can confidently predict another one of those ECB or MCC enquiries into the future of English cricket, chaired by Lord someone-or-other. It will meet for several months in a Lords committee room, produce a report that is likely never to be released, and recommend some minor changes that will never get implemented, and make no difference anyway.

There was some really good discussion between Trott, Moeen and Harmison on BT last night. As good as anything I've seen from the guys on Sky. Here's a coach, an active player and I'm pretty sure Harmi watches a lot of domestic stuff, all saying similar things. As opposed to Sky where, as good as it can be, it often feels like the only cricket some of them watch is what they commentate on.

Mo was excellent, I wonder if some of his difficulties in the England side might stem from the fact he seems fairly 'luded' (I can't be arsed thinking of the opposite word for deluded) :lol
