England are sooooooo far behind.....this is a steady but not special Aussie team apart from Smith. England are just very very poor....we keep making the same old excuses.....we are just not good enough anymore....

Sorry, is this series still going, thought it ended before Christmas..?[DOUBLEPOST=1515225171][/DOUBLEPOST]

Thing is, we will probably do ok at home in favourable conditions and people will start building team up again, then we go abroad next winter and lose again and we are rubbish again. Endless cycle .....

Tbh, this is how it is right now for all the teams, sadly. Except for SA.

Actually starting to find these sorts of comments more and more amusing rather than irratating the longer this series has progressed. Yes I agree this england team isnt the greatest... but there not the worst team getting about (root, cook, anderson, broad will go down as all time greats)... And yes I agree Eng havent been in great form with either bat or ball, almost as equally bad in both. And yes the aussies play well at home. But c'mon seriously these aussies are actually pretty good if you compare them to any other team today, they probably have the best fast bowling line-ups in the world atm, probably 2 of the top 5 or 6 batsman in the world in warner and smith, and probably one of the best spinners in the world in lyon... I think its fair to say they are more than "steady", maybe "steady" at worst, but maybe even "special" after the next 18 months. I think the next 18 months will tell the true tale of this current aussie team, if they can win in SA and Eng then they just might be back to another period of dominance like they were in the early mid 2000's.

Sorry had to vent my patriotic steam!

I just think with the batsman aus have waiting in the wings like cartwright, renshaw, maxwell, handscombe, burns, and dare I say it mr lynn. There in a good place atm test wise.

This Aussie team will get nowhere close to the Aussie 2000s side. Bancroft, Khawaja and the Marsh brothers wouldn’t have a sniff at the test team back then but now they’re forming nearly the whole batting line up

I base it on their performances over the last year in which they have struggled against various opposition in all formats. England have not been able to produce a dent or a scratch in them let alone really threaten them.

Is this a testament to the English bowlers that Mitch Marsh (the guy whose Test career has been "memed" (not sure if that is an actual word)) has scored two test hundreds, both at a very decent rate, in this Ashes Series.

Hold on a minute am I the only one who thinks that DRS decision was really messed up, on the side angle it's CLEARLY going over, how is that meant to dip into the stumps?...From that high!

Probably being overly critical but it's a bit disappointing looking back at the fact that Smith had his chance to make Ashes history by scoring 5 centuries and wasted it haha. Could've easily converted the 70-odd and 80-odd into hundreds. Has been unbelievable this series though, has helped the other batsmen so much.

Oh God is this series still going ? :facepalm

I never thought I would have to say this...

But the England LO team is way much better than the Test team.

I maybe a bit biased because i'm Queenslander but i would love to see Joe Burns return for the South Africa tour, hes in great form as of recent and David Warner has said Joe Burns is his favourite batting partner. Hes was a bit unlucky to be looked over by the selectors and who went an chose fellow Queenslander Renshaw who i think in my opinion was rushed into the side at a young age, i would like to see him stay in domestic for a bit so he can grow as a player.

Joe Burns is one of the most underrated players in Australia in my opinion, he can play anywhere in the order. When he gets going he seems like an absolute monster of a batsmen. He can bowl decently well, he just seems like a person you would just want in your team.

Well played by Australia, they rightfully deserve the Ashes urn. Comphrensive victory by them. England had their chances bit failed to hold on to them throughout the series.

On another note, this has been a great series from a neutral perspective, excellent for viewing and I really enjoyed watching this series and every moment of it. Great series, even though for the English this might be a bitter pill to swallow.

All I can deduce from this is that you are a very big fan of cricket in general. Watching a one sided series as a neutral I would have been pretty bored tbh !
