8 weeks of waking up between 4-6 AM is over but seriously watching the Poms getting trashed > Sleep.

On another note, this has been a great series from a neutral perspective, excellent for viewing and I really enjoyed watching this series and every moment of it. Great series, even though for the English this might be a bitter pill to swallow.

Actually thought it'd be difficult viewing for neutrals and new fans to the game tbh. Series had more of attrition than action, where patience dominated rather than chutzpah. Both teams adopted an overly-cautious approach with the bat, thought that might put people off.

My Ashes 2017/18 XI:

David Warner
Shaun Marsh
Joe Root
Steven Smith (c)
Dawid Malan
Mitchell Marsh
Tim Paine (wk)
Mitchell Starc
Pat Cummins
Josh Hazlewood
Nathan Lyon

12th Man: James Anderson

All I can deduce from this is that you are a very big fan of cricket in general. Watching a one sided series as a neutral I would have been pretty bored tbh !
Well England had moments to win the game in the first three tests, and it was obviously a lot better than watching India-SL , but really still it was a great contest except for this test .

This Aussie team will get nowhere close to the Aussie 2000s side. Bancroft, Khawaja and the Marsh brothers wouldn’t have a sniff at the test team back then but now they’re forming nearly the whole batting line up
Well ill agree maybe khawaja and s.marsh wont get to those heights, but only because there at the wrong age profile and wont be part of this current team for the next 6-8 years. As for the rest I think there all capable and at the right age, they just need to produce in the next 18 months to cement there spots.
I base it on their performances over the last year in which they have struggled against various opposition in all formats. England have not been able to produce a dent or a scratch in them let alone really threaten them.
Yeah I think the next 18 months will be telling for this current team of aussies, I reckon they're much better placed this time around then they were last year off the back of the home loss to SA.

Broad and Anderson are a hindrance. They are England's leading test wicket takers of all time and have been fantastic servants to the country. However they are both overwhelmingly better in England than in Australia and India. I think the selectors are somewhat forced to pick them for the tour of Australia, which I think is the hindrance. Neither of them bowl express pace of 88mph or higher which is what is required of the conditions. Stokes (other than beating people up) is an inconsistent bowler and Woakes hasn't been the same since he got injured in the Champions Trophy. I think Plunkett should have been picked, leading ODI bowler of 2017 (I think) and bowls good pace.

Lack of spinner is a concern away from home for England, think Moeen could be a batsman at 5 or 6 that can bowl a bit. No idea how Jack Leach doesn't get a look in. Leading spinner in the past 2 years of championship cricket. Mason Crane looks a talent but does not produce at championship level yet (only played a handful of games).

Yeah I think I would have liked to have seen Plunkett feature somewhere but the young guys who came in did quite well considering the circumstances; Jimmy was invaluable but had to do too much; take wickets and keep one end tight. If your spinner isnt able to do that and your other pace bowlers just arent quick enough to cause problems then its very easily going to start showing as it did....I am not sure it is a question of pace though ; mcgrath was never the quickest in Aussie conditions but had meticulous control..... in England they just have to bung the ball down and they get a lot of help.....If we cant fix pace we can definitely fix control!

When your top order doesnt score runs and your bowlers cant take 20 wickets theres only one result possible.....make no bones about it: for all the talk England were crushed and it has been a very one sided and quite boring series.......

Just a quick one on the one day teams.. I'm now convinced maxwell has done something we all don't know about, what's he done wrong since the start of this summer? I'm baffled, I love him and I reckon a majority of fans are disappointed like me with the way he's being treated lately... Why Cameron White at 34 years of age is being selected in front of guys like maxwell, weatharald, Cartwright, burns, short, and a few more who've gut runs under there belt with age on there side and a World Cup coming up, why oh why is this happening now? For the record anyone selected in this series is more than likely going to end up looking like a good selection because Australia will maul England in the one dayers!!! Ffs Trevor hohns f#ck off!!! ya old has been, senile muppet!!!

He didnt perform in the India series, did he?[DOUBLEPOST=1515648107][/DOUBLEPOST]
England will give tougher competition in the One Dayers than in the tests.

Steve Smith will give tougher competition in the One Dayers than in the tests.;)

He didnt perform in the India series, did he?[DOUBLEPOST=1515648107] It's been said Australian selectors will have one eye on the upcoming World Cup In mind, it would make sense then that one of Australia most promising up and coming batsman in Cartwright would make more sense than white does that's all I'm saying.. I was more certain about this one day series before eng touched down than I was for the test series, as for the 20/20 hit and giggle who bloody well knows...[DOUBLEPOST=1515651422][/DOUBLEPOST]As for Cartwright he makes more sense than white, seeing as the Australian electors have one eye on the upcoming World Cup.

Guys like Daniel Hughes & Jake Weatherald need to play more games in JLT CUP
Glenn Maxwell recalling him wouldn't make any sense after what happened a few days ago
Hilton Cartwright nope

Ferguson is unlucky but White has been scoring runs for fun in the last few years so it's understandable why they picked him and he can easily play in the WC !!!

What happened a few days ago?

Ferguson no thanks...

Daniel Hughes, huh please...

Cartwright and weatherald are Imo (understand this is subjective) the best young batters in Australia atm.[DOUBLEPOST=1515664125][/DOUBLEPOST]Obviously I'm a big fan of maxwell and I believe he deserves first bite of the cherry.

Cameron White replaced injured Chris Lynn.Maxwell need to perform in upcoming BBL games, where he need to guide his team.Poor shot selection against finger spinners-cause of his downfall.
