The Ashes is one of the greatest sporting rivalries in history. Join me as I play through every test match since 1990, and some ODIs, to rewrite history and experience some of the greatest player Australia and England have produced. Each match report will contain a small summary of the real match, and the DBC match. Special thanks to the content creators, @blockerdave @Llewelynf @inertSpark and @wasteyouryouth for their great players, bats and logos

First Test at the Gabba, November 23rd 1990

Summery of the real match:

Without captain Graham Gooch, England never really stood a chance. England were sent in to bat on day 1, and were dismissed before stumps thanks to some fantastic bowling from Bruce Reid and Merv Hughes. David Gower's 61 easily the top score. The next day however, the Aussies were surprised by the English bowlers and dismissed for 152. England lost 3 wickets on the second evening and were all out for 114 early on day 3. Alderman used the swinging conditions to his advantage notching up career best figures of 6/47. The trusty opening pair of Marsh and Taylor played a commanding innings to achieve the total of 157 for victory without loss, a 1st wicket record at the Gabba. It was the first time since 1938 that Australia had beaten England inside 3 days.

DBC Game:
Allan Border won the toss on a hard green wicket and decided to bat. The Aussies have struggled early, lunch of day 1 and Marsh and Taylor both gone from edges. The ball has been moving around nicely for the English bowlers. Boon and Border are trying to steady the ship, and see out England's attack.

Stumps Day 1
An exciting end to a lovely day of cricket. Boon and Border fought back after lunch joining for a 105 run partnership. Border fell just short of a century, caught behind off a delivery he was trying to leave and couldn't get the bat out of the way quick enough. Then came some trademark Dean Jones power hitting and a short cameo from Greg Matthews before the Australian tail fell apart 4 balls before the scheduled close of play. The pick of the English bowlers was Gladestone Small racking up 5/84 off 25.2. Lewis also bowled well and was unlucky not to pick up any wickets, although he was very economical with figures of 0/47 from 17 overs.

End of 1st Innings
England have been dismissed just after lunch on day 2 for 166. After a steady first wicket partnership of 50 from Atherton and Larkins England looked in a good position. Enter Merv Hughes. The big bustling seamer tore the English lineup to shreds returning figures of 5/39 from his 17 overs. England's tenth wicket partnership of 40 was the second highest for the innings, with Devon Malcolm swinging for his life. The top score of 31 from Russell goes to show how poorly England performed, however they did manage to avoid the follow on. As it stands, Australia lead by 170.

Stumps Day 2
End of day 2 sees the Aussies steadily adding to their lead (now 255) after a poor English batting display saw them bowled out just after tea. Geoff Marsh looked good out there untill he was run out, falling for 33. Mark Taylor played some beautiful shots, racing to 31* before the close of play. Surely England will have to bowl Australia out very quickly to have any chance of saving this match.

End of Innings
The Aussies have been bowled out just before stumps on day 3 for 391. After a strong start from the openers Marsh eventually fell for 33. Mark Taylor was looking to make up for the first innings, making a classy 66 before being caught behind. Boon looked solid for his 36 before he edged one to the cordon. Then came a bit of worry Australia went from 1/142 to 5/182 as Border and Jones fell short of their first innings showing. But just as England got a sniff of a comeback, Steve Waugh and Greg Matthews took away that hope very quickly. The pair putting on a 135 run partnership before Matthews was dismissed for 74. Waugh fought on as Healy fell, and the big man Merv was run out a second time for the match. Bruce Reid held on long enough for Waugh to reach his century, a well constructed 111. After Waugh's dismissal Alderman tried to hit one into the car park and failed miserably. The only thing going for the English was Lewis's 4/84 coming from 20.5 overs. England will need to improve their bowling, as the gifted Australia 52 extras for the match. As it stands, England have 190 scheduled overs, but trail by a mammoth 561 runs. It will have to be a world record chase for England to win this one, the Australians are the clear favourites here.

End of Day 4
What an exciting day of cricket! England's top order collapsed again at the start of days play, having the fans believe this would be an Aussie whitewash. Oh how they were wrong. The middle order held strong, with Smith and Stewart putting on 109 before Smith fell for 52. Wicketkeeper Jack Russel was out shortly after, however C.Lewis continued on from his great bowling dispatching bowlers all over the place. Alec Stewart was eventually caught at short cover for 115, an innings that consisted of only 4 boundaries! Lewis is currently on 49, and Small 10 at stumps with England 7/284. With 1 day remaining, England need 277 runs to win with Australia requiring 3 wickets. This is going to be a classic finish to a great match.
