Because they moved to that zone because the Oceania zone is crap. They are now soccer-wise officially an Asian side, and have a better chance of progressing to the World Cup (more spots in Asia) and also play better tournaments like the Asia Cup.

That said they are totally crap and I hope all the bandwagon jumpers go back to footy now. Soccer sucks.

Carn Aussies! Great 4-0 win.

Beauchamp scored 1 goal. And Newcastle United fans will be happy to hear that Mark Viduka scored two goals. Kewell scored the other.

Australia will be playing Japan in the quarter finals for a rematch of last years amazing match at Kaiserslauten.

Australia lost on penalties. How cruel! Amidtledly Japan played better than Australia but surely the Grella send-off was crap. A yellow card at the most, it deserved a foul but definetly not a red card. The Carney "dive" was absoultely rubbish, it should've been a card to the Japanese not Australia. The shoot-out was poor as well. Kewell didn't hit his kick with enough conviction. Schwarzer looked liked he saved a kick but it went it. All and all Japan deserved to win but Australia was done a bit harshly.

I heard that Kewell was tripped in the box which should've resulted in a penalty.
But the umpire fouled him for diving.

You mean the referee. He did dive, minimal contact was placed on Kewell's feet. Carney's dive was definetly not a dive though.
