The Book Thread

Thread stickied, in an attempt to make this thread on par with the TV, Movie and Music threads.

Ugh, I've been terrible about starting and stopping recently. Technically, I'm currently reading the following:

Guns, Germs, and Steel (Jared Diamond)
Love in the Time of Cholera (Gabriel Garcia Marquez)
A Song of Ice and Fire series

While I started and put on the back burner:

Second Wind (Bill Russell autobio)
The Book of Basketball (Bill Simmons)
Beyond a Boundary (CLR James)

Just terrible habits. I've dropped many of these to read the hotter book that I wanted, like Zealot and Great Gatsby.

It took me a staggering amount of time, but I finally completed Lolita today. Masterpiece. Artistic. One of most multilayered stories one will ever read, what with all the french interspersed and rich wordplays as well as deep, multifaceted characters. Not an easy read by any means, it becomes extremely difficult to progress through the novel in parts; still, it should go down as one of my most important reads of the year, both ideawise and languagewise.

I am currently reading The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch. So far, so good.

Finished reading recently:
Dark Places by Jon Evans
The Digital Fortress by Dan Brown
The Lizard's Bite by David Hewson

Currently reading :
Night of Knives by Jon Evans
The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco.

Just ordered the complete works of shakespeare and catch 22. currently reading The Rum Diary
