Australian captain Ricky Pointing adressed the media shortly after the announcement of the world cup squad

Media: was there a need of Phil jaques as extra opener when you could have selected Dan Cullen in the 15?

RP:" We'll we could have the permutations and combinations of every cricketer in the 20 but what matters is the value each player adds to the 15 and how parallel he is in respect of other players. Phil is a outstanding cricketer and i believe that he deserved selection completely".

The International Council of Cricket declared in a press conference that the worldwide rights of telecasting the matches of the World Cup live was awarded to the highest bidder

SET MAX for tevision rights

Planetcricket for Web rights
Hutch-Essar for Moblie rights

The amount earned by the ICC out of the right handed over were still undisclosed

SET MAX also announced the commentators for the world cup
