Hussey Departs​

Hussey was out for 45 when he tried to pull a short delivery outside off stump from spinner B.Malone and mistimed it to the fielder Haynes who accepted a dolly. A well made 45 from him came off just 40 balls and was a good supporting role for hayden and Australia

Hayden Reaches Century and ............. Departs​

Hayden reached his hundred which was a magnificent innings from the prolific opener and surely made a strong point at the opposition from the viewpoint of the series. His hundred came off just 75 balls which included 10 fours and a six. Shortly after the celebration he also mistimed a square cut and fell for a well made 104 off 79 balls.

The Rebuliding of the innings......​

After the departure of hayden there was a need of a good solid partnership from clarke and Hodge. Clarke strated off nicely with a stnning square cut for four showing good promise while on the other hand Hodge was concentrating on converting ones into two's and two's into three's. Clarke then fell for 20 runs off 20 balls which included 3 boundaries. He edged one to the keeper of the bowling of Hoffman. at the crease at the moment are Watson and Hodge and at the end of the 35th over australia are at 241\5 with Hodge on 18 and Watson on 18. Can Australia finish off in style?

Australia were comfortably placed at 241\5 at the end of 35 overs. Watson and Hodge then went about the game taking singles and maintaining the run rate above 6.75 till the 40 overs. Once Watson was dismissed the Australians lost thier way as every next batsman found it difficult to get going. Soon Hodge perished and then it was upto the tail to survive and salvage pride and Australia ended thier innings on 326\9.

Harsha Bhogle: Hello and Welcome one and all to our special show called experts corner. Australia made somewhat dissapointing 326\9 i must say in thier first innings and we are here with our Experts panel to have a closer look at each detail of it. Right then i have along with me today two stalwarts of thier time with us , on my left is Sanjay Manjerakar and to my right is Sunil Gavaskar. Good Evening gentlemen , so first's up a rather less score of three.. hundred... and twenty six.....?

Sunil Gavaskar: Well yeah a pretty ordinary batting performance there a by the .. aussies. I think they should have kept more wickets till the end ,i remember they were at one stage 241\5 in around 35 overs having thier last recognised pair batting which in my terms does not fit in. You have to have wickets till the end to make use of the stupendous start given my the top order batsmen.

Harsha Bhogle: They really had to keep wickets in hand there... maybe a short collapse would have avoided that but then again what a innings from hayden first hundred of the world cup...

Sanjay Manjerakar:What a amazing player he is such a great asset for such a great team. Today hayden was at his firing best , scored on both sides of the wicket with some exquisite drives and powerfull cuts and pull skots to his credit he truly deserved a hundres today. I think had any one on the other hand maybe Hussey carried on he might have played much more maturely which would then have resulted into a bigger score from him as well as a great team total.
