Day 2

Good Morning everyone and Welcome to the Day 2 of this clash between India A and Green Goblins. I'm your host Aamir and I'll be taking you through the day's play. Day 1 was a bit quiet as not many runs were scored nor the bowlers could pick more wickets. The Goblin captain said in the conference that they are looking forward to score quick runs and declare at the score of 300.

The umpires and the players are at the center and here's the start of play. We expected Goblins to score some quicks runs and declare as soon as possible so that they can utilise the early morning moisture and get some quick wickets. But the Indian bowlers spilled water on their plans. They were keen to take wickets and employed attacking field, they bowled bang on line and length and hit the "Area of uncertainty" regularly where the batsmen are not sure whether to leave it or play it, and the Goblin batsmen had no other option than to either let it go or defend it strongly. The Goblins managed to reach the score of 300 but at a very slow rate. The two Goblin batsmen who resumed batting on Day 2 remained unbeaten with a mamoth partnership of 152 runs. Tarzan scored 141 whereas Shaheer reached 75 before they decided to declare. At the end of first session, Goblins ended up at 303-3 declared and the players went in to have lunch break.

The India A batsmen came out to bat with a plan. They knew that the moisture has evaporated and the ball will not seam around much. They had an attacking mind set. Looking at the brave decision of the Goblin captain to declare at the score of 300, they sensed they can score quick runs and gain a substantial lead over them. The Indian bastmen started off wisely and tried to see through the new ball. In search of early wicket, Goblin captain made a change in bowling and handed the ball to Handsome and the trick paid off. Handsome was sucessful to catch S. Dhawan plumb in front of the wicket and the first wicket fell at the score of 68. After that there was no joy whatsoever for the Goblins as India A slowly and steady reached the score of 119-1 at the tea break.

The last session of the day had some exciting moments in it. The Indian batsmen batted pretty sensibly. The partnership between A.Chopra and D. Karthik was going strong and the Goblin bowlers had no idea on what line and length they should bowl. A. Chopra and D. Karthik put up 123 runs for the 2nd wicket and the Goblin bowlers lost their hopes, when a disasterous mix-up took place, the bastmen were in two minds, and D. Karthik who played well for his 53 just fell short of his ground and was run out. At the other end A. Chopra played sensibly and went on to complete his well deserved century. Just when things looked to be going good for India A, another mix-up took place and this time A. Chopra ended up loosing his wicket. I'm sure he's not happy the way he got out especially after playing such a wonderful innings. A. Chopra was out on 103. The sun is starting to set and the light is slowly and steadily leaving the ground. The umpires has taken the bails off and yes its the end of day's play. Too much drama and excitement in the second days play as India A reach 216-3.

Summary of the match so far, Goblins declared their innings at 303-3. In reply India A are looking good at 216-3 trailing by just 87 runs. Two new batsmen are at the crease, it'll be interesting if they can go on and put a big lead or the Goblin bowlers utilise the early conditions tomorrow and pick up early wickets. Mind you India A has played 73 overs and new ball will be due at 80 overs tomorrow, it'll be interesting if Goblins pick early wickets with the new ball tomorrow. The game has just finished 2 days and its still anybody's game.

Join in tomorrow for more live action from this match. Its game on tomorrow. Maybe tomorrow's day will decide in which way the match is heading, will the India A batsmen survive and put up a lead or the Goblin batsmen will fight back and get early wickets or maybe dismiss the India A side cheaply. All the action resumes tomorrow. Thats all for the day today. I'm your host Aamir taking leave from you, hope to see you tomorrow. Good Bye.
