Van Basten Leaves Post

Holland manager and legend Marco Van Basten has confirmed his resignation from the Holland national team. This has come as no surprise as Van Basten had a dispute with the Dutch FA a few days ago about the squad. Van Basten was unhappy as he claimed the Dutch FA were not giving him freedom as the manager. He said this at the press conference this morning "I am very sad to leave Holland as I got on very well with my players and staff and I thought I could achieve great things with my country. But that is not the case. I do not wish to backstab my nation by telling of exagerrated horrors of what happened behind the scenes so I will leave it at that. I give my best regards to my sucessor and with Holland the best of luck for the future."
"Where will you go now?"
"Who knows. I could end up anywhere."
"Will you be looking for another job as manager?"
"I will take a short break from the football scene and have a think about my future."
The question remains of who will be Marco Van Basten's sucessor.

Ancelotti Not Interested

A.C. Milan boss Carlo Ancelotti has announced that he is not interested in the recently vacated Holland job. The 49 year old had been a strong favourite for the job and newspaper stories had said he wanted the job. Ancelotti dismissed the speculation as total nonsense. "I'm very happy here at Milan. We are doing well, I am working with some great players and I have no intention of leaving. The Holland job is quite tempting but I would never leave my home here at Milan." Ancelotti has won 10 major trophies such as the UEFA Champions League twice and the Italian Serie A once. With Ancelotti out of the race, the successor of Marco Van Basten looks completely uncertain.

Great start Mani good luck with this and get Craig Tough managing!

The Dutch play flamboyant football, so that (should) rules out Mourinho, Ancellotti, Capello, Mancini and Mclaren. Scolari would be a good choice, but I have a feeling its none of those mentioned.

My pick would be Frank Rijkaard.

Heer Speaks Out On Van Basten Resignation

Marco Van Basten's assistant manager at Holland and very close friend kgfoidjgir has spoken exclusively to Sky Sports about the departure of Marco Van Basten from the Holland international team. Sky Sport's Geoff Shreeves spoke to him earlier today.
"Good morning Maninder and thank you for coming."
"My pleasure."
"Okay the first thing I have to ask is why did Marco Van Basten leave?"
"Well he is a very good friend of mine and he said it was because the Dutch FA didn't give him enough freedom to do what he wanted with the squad."
"What did he mean by this?"
"I don't know. I never followed up the question as he was very unhappy about leaving."
"Do you agree with him about his remarks?"
"Well I don't know what exactly the Dutch FA did so I can't say yes. I trust the Dutch FA but I also trust Marco so I don't know what to believe. I'm just keeping myself out of the argument, it doesn't concern me so I'm just staying out."
"How did Van Basten feel about leaving Holland?"
"He was very angry and distraught really. He put a lot of heart and effort into his team and he gives it his all for any team he manages and has played for. He didn't want to leave the great bunch of players."
"What was the mood like in the Dutch training camp with him around?"
"Oh he was a great influence on the team. We all got on extremely well, like a family if you were. The mood was great. A great gelling team and that's why we played so well. He admired all his players and rated them very highly."
"There have been many people linked with the job. Who do you think will get it and do you think you will keep your place as the assistant manager?"
"I have no idea who is going to get it. As assistant manager I don't get special perks of knowing what happens behind the scenes. I know as much as you. I hope whoever takes over will want me to stay but if he doesn't, well I'll be disappointed."
"You yourself have been linked with the job. The bookies see you with a slight chance. How do you respond to that?"
"I'm delighted that i'm linked with such a prestigious honour."
"If you were offered the job, would you accept?"
"Without a shadow of a doubt yes."
"Ok thank you for your time Maninder."
"Thank you Geoff."

Heer Becomes Favourite as Mourinho Drops Out

Jose Mourinho has unlinked himself with the job of managing the Holland international team just moments ago. Consequently this has placed Mdkmdklmr firmly as favourite for Marco Van Basten's successor. The "Special One" confirmed himself out of the race for the job. Mourinho stated "I do not go. No. I am out. Where I go? Who Knows? But not Holland. Today the weather is bright but tomorrow in Holland it will rain." Madjkndjjkr has become the favourite now after he was seen going into the Dutch Football Association board room minutes after Mourinho confirmed himself out. Maninder Heer who has been the assistant manager of Holland under the reign of Marco Van Basten is likely to be promoted to the manager in the next few days.
