Malp has announced his Dutch squad to face Switzerland in a friendly match on the Twenty-Second of August. It is as follows:

Heer stated "The squad is full of a mix of youth and experience. The older players like Clarence Seedorf will help out the youngsters like Afellay and Babel to make them mentally prepared at international level. The squad is very strong and I expect a win against Switzerland. Winning isn't the priority though but an impressive performance will get them into my good books. In this match I will try and understand my best team and tactics."
Critics were unsure about the inclusion of Roy Maakay and Ibrahim Afellay in the Dutch squad. The former being to old for the squad and the latter being to young. Criticism at Makioir is for including Roy Maakay because his time has already passed and there are more capable, younger players in the squad. Criticism for the choice of Ibrahim Afellay is because he is too young to be capped at international level and not ready yet. More experience is needed for Afellay to get into the squad. Heer responded "This is just a friendly anyway. I am testing out the players in their roles and see which players work best in each role. Roy Maakay is an excellent finisher and headerer. An out and out striker, just because he is at an older age doesn't mean he's not capable. As for Afellay I think he deserves a chance. There is nothing wrong in playing him for about twenty minutes in a friendly. Exposing him at international level will do him a lot of good."

Yeah!!!! No Ooijer!! But Khalid Boulahro-useless still being picked. Heitinga and Mathijsen to start nevertheless. Seedorf is a big player in the game (atleast in the opposition), so his selection is not a surprise. And your reason ofcourse of mixing youth and experience. Roy Makaay I am not so sure about as Holland already have the best finisher in the world in SupeRuud. Afellay more than deserves to be in a 23 man squad for sure.
Looking good and I am looking forward to your weekly reports on club matches involving Dutch players. Hopefully you wont just do Ajax, PSV, Arsenal and Real Madrid.

Netherlands vs Switzerland-Match Preview
The media are all geared up for Ma[];[ppeer's first match in charge for Netherlands. The attack minded dutch will face off against the co-hosts of the European Championships in 2008, Switzerland. Heer said he was ready and anxious for his first match in charge and that we should expect to see nearly everyone play for Holland.
The Holland starting line up is as follows:
Van der Sar, Heitinga, van Bronckhorst, Maduro, Mathijsen, van der Vaart, Landzaat, Robben, Babel, van Nistelrooy, van Persie.
The only surprise from that line up is the exclusion of Wesley Sneijder. Sneijder apparrently recieved a slight knock in training but was said to be fit enough to start. This is either not the case or Heer is not taking any risks with Sneijder's fitness. He is however on the bench so there is a strong chance that he will come on during the game.
The danger man for the Netherlands highlighted by pundits is clinical finisher Ruud van Nistelrooy. His sublime finishing, aided by great passes is no match for the best at the top level of the game. He has received criticism over the years for his failure to excel himself at international level but pundits still believe that he is a strong force to be reckoned with.

Switzerland Hammered By Emphatic Dutch
From the start of the game it looked like it was going to be one-way traffic when Ryan Babel made a cut back cross to Landzaat in the 2nd minute which was barely saved by the Swiss keeper. 5 minutes later the Dutch were attacking again. A long ball to Babel led to a cross in to Van Nistelrooy who headered the ball into the keepers hands. Despite the great attacking from Holland they were the first to concede. In the 10th minute the Swiss finally made an attack. A cross came in from the left hand side and despite Maduro attempting to header it away it still went to Frei who lobbed the keeper to put Switzerland ahead. They had a chance to double their lead, a chance they will surely rue. A corner came in from Mota and a free header from Philippe Senderos went completely wide. A great chance wasted. A few minutes later in the other end, Heitinga had a throw in on the right hand side. He threw it to Robben who made a great cross into the area. Ruud Van Nistelrooy powered a header into the back of the net and leveled the score. Frei had a series of chances through out the game which he wasted. Two came at the end of the first half. The first one was a long ball over the top of the defenders that Frei got hold of but couldn't finish, the second was a strong throw in into the box that Frei headered poorly into Van der Sar's hands. That concluded the first half of the game with the scores tied at 1-1.
For the 2nd half Holland made 5 of their 6 possible changes with Giovanni Van Bronchorst, Rafael Van der Vaart, Ryan Babel, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Robin van Persie all going off. Urby Emanuelson, Clarence Seedorf, Ibrahim Afellay, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Dirk Kuyt all came on. Seedorf was handed the captains arm band. The first 10 minutes of the 2nd half flew by without either team having any chances, it all happened in the middle of the pitch. In the 55th minute the deadlock was finally broken when Arjen Robben curled in a corner to Hedwiges Maduro who headered it away into the goal. Holland were leading 2-1. Dirk Kuyt flicked the ball on to Afellay as he ran half of the pitch for his shot on goal to be tipped wide of the post. A few minutes later in the 61st minute Afellay was proving his worth as he intercepted the ball in the Swiss half and ran down the wing. He cut inside fooling the full back and crossed it in. Huntelaar hit a powerful volley which was stopped by the keeper but it was too much for the Keeper to hold on to as he fumbled it and Huntelaar made sure his name was on the scoresheet and got the rebound. 3-1 to the Dutch visitors and more was yet to come. Afellay again ran down the wing and made a great cross. Huntelaar hit it on the volley but Benaglio pounced on it like a cat only for him to fumble the ball once again, it went out for a corner. A short corner from Robben to Seedorf and Seedorf curled it in. Huntelaar made his way through the defence to get to the ball and headed it with pure precision to header an impossible goal at the inside of the post and past the line to make it 4-1. Huntelaar's 2nd goal. After the celebrations Arjen Robben made way for Wesley Sneijder and Sneijder moved to the left as Afellay moved to the right. A much deserved applause for Robben, 2 assists for him. In the 86th minute Kuyt held his nerve down the wing to get a cross into the area but Huntelaars shot was saved. That was the last chance of the match. The referee blew the whistle for full time, the final score Switzerland 1, Holland 4. Arjen Robben was awarded the Man of The Match award for his great effort on the right hand side of midfield before being substituted. A great start for Ma;ppeer and his Dutch players as they celebrate a superb win over Switzerland.
