I would say India vs England Natwest series final, not being bais, just the feeling once we had one, that terrible situation we was in, 146-5 needing nearly 8 runs per over with only 5 wickets in hand, Yuvraj and Kaif never had been in a situation like this before, so evreyone must have written India chances of winning totally off. Then thier was a twist in the tale those 2 youngsters fought bravley, and they got India back into the game with some fantastic hitting, when Yuvi went out, my heart was in my mouth, Kaif made sure he stayed thier right till the end and saw India through what a relief it was when Zaheer and Kaif ran the winning runs, India filled with joy and a lot of people went through a lot of emotion.

The 99 world cup semi-final comes close that had evreything in it. But personally I would pick the 2002 natwest series final.

I don't seem to understand the comparisons between the AUS-SA game and baseball. Baseball is not batter oriented as you think. It is very much balanced between bat and ball. For one, the pitcher gets a height advantage (the mound) and can throw harder (bent elbow). The best batter successfully hits only 34% (think of it like a strike rate) of the balls he faces. And of course not each of these hits equals a run. The batters after him must try to advance him. I'd even say that baseball is pitcher(bowler) oriented. And don't forget the fielding. Getting the ball out of the infield is very tough.

what do you guys think about mabee a game where 30 runs played 31? Where the bowlers totally dominated the batsmen? THats the opposite of this. Everything seems to revolve around the batting. I myself perfer to see the bails fly and the fieldsmen prancing around.
I would love to see that.

Team A are on top of the world, 32 runs to win, oh this is easy. Team B come out, bam bam bam, 20 run final partnership fails to get team a across teh line. Would be intense!

Reminds me of the U/19 world cup final. India were killing pakistan, got them out very cheaply. Before you knew it Pakistan had India 6/9 or something similar.

Would be nice (however exaggerated), but television broadcasters wouldn't be too pleased....although the media wouldn't mind.

How exagerated? You would of said that too before the 438 or whatever it was. ;) no one would of believed that.

Yeah, not a bad point actually. But the quality of batsmanship seems to outweigh the bowling aspect which will call for higher scores and less wickets in the future, but no, I wouldn't have predicted 434.

THats what I am afraid of. Bowlers need some kind of incentive to actually want to play.

Sri Lanka v Australia 1996 World Cup Final.
Great day in history of cricket.
Aravinda was a legend - 107 not out, 3 wickets, 2 catches

That wasnt as close as any of the matches mentioned. At some point, most of them knew Sri Lanka were going to finish it off.

Well you might argue how does India vs Pakistan 2003 WC match gets into that list? Well the way that match was played makes it enter the list. Pakistan rack up a huge total of 272 or so. Shoaib Akthar mouths off big words before the match abt the Indian batsmen and esp. Sachin Tendulkar. Sachin and Sehwag come up and slam bang the Pakistan bowlers. Sachin takes Akthar to task for 18 runs in an over. Thats it!

you think that's great. No one gave sri lanka any chance at the start of the world cup. Australia and the West Indies didn't play the group games against us because of security concerns. For this reason Azharuddin and Wasim sent their temas for a world XI game. That's why Ranatunga particularly thanked them at the post match celebration. Then when they reached the final, no one gave them a chance again. Shane Warne laughed at the prospect of playing them. then he and the rest of the team got a belting they never expected. Aravinda was in a class of his own. Great game considering the odds against Sri Lanka. Probalby the best World Cup tournament ever.
