Race History

The 24 Hours of Le Mans is a sportscar race held near to the town of Le Mans in France. The event usually takes place in the second week of June and has been held since 1923. The race has been cancelled twice, in 1936 because of the Great Depression and between 1940 and 1948 because of World War II. The field usually consists of around 50 cars and is run of the Circuit de la Sarthe, a mixture of Public Roads and Race track. Currently the course is 13.65km in length.

Cars are currently split into 4 classes. 2 Prototype classes, LMP1 and LMP2 and 2 modified production classes GT1 and GT2. All classes race at the same time. The car that has completed the most laps after 24 hours is the winner.

A Year in the making....

This race diary will be run using GTR2. The track will be the 2004 layout, it is an unofficial add-on track that has been converted from a modification made from a much earlier game. The cars are mainly add-ons, with skins collected from various places, some designed by myself. Where possible the correct car-type will be used but some cars have not been modelled, in these cases the closest available car has been used. Most modifications are available for download at NoGripRacing.

Another Kev story. Should be good :)

(It will also be updated more frequently than Stevie's which is an added bonus :p)

Team Bruichladdich Radical Pulls Out

Team Bruichladdich has announced that it will be withdrawing from the 2007 Le Mans 24 hours due to lack of funding with immediate effect. The ACO will consider applications for a replacement team later this week.

Team Bruichaladdich will not compete in this years event.

Very good start mate, keep it up! :)
Just one question, what on earth possessed you to do this instead of a Kent story? I'm just really shocked thats all :p!

ACO announce surprising choice as replacement

The sportscar racing world was somewhat taken aback today when Le Mans 24h organisers the ACO announced the replacement for the cash strapped Team Bruichladdich team.

While many had predicted one of the teams that narrowly missed out on qualification would be selected, the ACO surprised everyone by announcing Don't Panic Racing as the replacement entry.

Don't Panic Racing will enter a 3 year old Viper in the LMGT1 category and as a further twist the car will be driven by only 1 driver - an unknown 'gentleman' driver known only as Kev.

When asked about his chances Kev said "I don't expect to be as fast on a single lap as the Saleen's and Aston Martin's, but it's a long race and hopefully we'll be able to challenge in the long run". When asked about his chances of driving for the entire 24 hours, Kev replied "Well, we have invented a new device which will allow me to freeze time every hour so I'll be nice and refreshed come 3pm on Sunday". Nobody knew if he was joking or serious!

Don't Panic Racing will make its first appearance at a test session at Silverstone this week.

Yeah, sounds about right :p

Good work mate, will be a very good read, I'm sure :)

Bad Weather at Silverstone prevents meaningful testing

Bad weather today at Silverstone prevented the 3 attending teams from getting any meaningful testing in. Don't Panic Racing, making their first appearance, was joined by the Lamborghini of JLOC ISAO Noritake and the Seikel Motorsport Porsche 911.

In torrential conditions the Lamborghini was fastest by just over a second from the Viper of Don't Panic Racing with the Porsche snapping at their heals.

Don't Panic Driver, Kev damaged his Viper after putting a wheel on the grass on the hangar straight. Unable to slow the car down he hit the barriers at the end of the straight but managed to limp back to the pits, although he took no further part in the session.

"Whilst the accident was unfortunate, and looked pretty bad no real damage was done to the car although we took the decision not to risk any further problems as it was clear we weren't going to gain any meaningful data from the session" A team spokesman said. When asked about his accident Kev refused to comment on it saying only that the car was a bit of a handful in the rain and he had been struggling with understeer beforehand.

"If it rains like that in France, its going to be a short 24 hours" He joked.

Did u panic there, Kev?

Shame about the weather. Keep ripping that Viper mate!!

Quick update as this story died before it really got going. Basically running 54 cars around a 13km track proved a little too much for my PC!!! Luckily (or unluckily for my bank balance) my Motherboard died, so now I have a sexy new Phenom based system. After a quick test it seems I can now handle this with ease so with any luck this story can proceed all be it a little bit delayed (a year in the making might be an understatement now!).

Looking forward to seeing yet another story from you Kev, hopefully another legendary story. It had a good start and hopefully you can continue this. Good luck.

Test day footage, not really worth a write up but thought I should post something in here ;)
