The ICC MUST NOT create a "window" for the IPL

The idea of creating a "window" (stupid buzzword, even stupider concept) in the internatonal cricket calendar is ridiculous.

Why should dozens or even hundreds of International cricketers sit around doing nothing and be DENIED EMPLOYMENT while a select few earn a packet in the IPL?

If this "window" is created then I propose that all international players not being paid to play in the IPL be compensated for loss of earnings due to this "window", and all international cricket boards also be compensated for loss of earnings due to the matches and tours that are cancelled or not able to be held due to this stupid meaningless mickey mouse tournament.

Cricketers will get paid for it anyway. They don't have to be playing to be paid.

It is not ridiculous to create an international window for the IPL. The IPL has the largest gathering of international stars and superstars outside of international cricket. These stars are in demand for the IPL and they want to play in the IPL, so why deny these players the opportunity to earn money and play in a competition which many of them will no doubt enjoy. You mention that the players who are not hired in the IPL will be denied employment due to this window, but 57 days (the duration of the IPL) is hardly a large period of time and can be almost used as a 'holiday period' for those who are not picked in the IPL. With all the talk of overcrowding in the international schedule, the IPL can reduce saturation and give the players a rest, if they want one. Furthermore, the IPL coincides with the start of the English county season and so there are opportunities to play away from the IPL.

You talk about a loss of earnings, but people earn their places in IPL teams through performing well in ODI and T20 cricket - you talk like these places are 'gifted' to a select few. You note the IPL as a "stupid meaningless mickey mouse tournament" but I don't think the players who are attaining financial security for a long time and those who are being able to enjoy cricket without the international pressures would call the IPL meaningless. The players have quickly attained a loyalty for their franchises and they sincerely do care about their results. Moreover, I do not think you can call the bucket loads of money and sheer amount of international stars as mickey mouse, either.

The way things are going soon the IPL will be talking about creating a window for international cricket. :p

A few years and the IPL will die, with any luck.

Have to agree. Was a lot less exciting than it was made out to be.

Indeed, but it is an achievement that it drew any English fans at all, especially considering it had only Dimi from England in the IPL - and even he only featured sporadically.

20/20 cricket is boring and too long :(. Cant we have 10 over matches :(.

cricket itself is too boring, lets close the whole forum down, and shut ICC, and BCCI, and remove the word from the dictionary.
