Same; if I get the player I'm holding out for, I'll be delighted.I can NOT wait for my pick.
I'm amazed some of the players who haven't been taken yet; there's every chance I'll end up having to make a big ol' list of surprising omissions
Same; if I get the player I'm holding out for, I'll be delighted.I can NOT wait for my pick.
I'm genuinely anxious that the player I have my eye on will get picked before I can get a chance to poach him. There are still two picks left before I have mine.Same; if I get the player I'm holding out for, I'll be delighted.
"There are those who argue to this day that had he lived, Archie Jackson would have rivaled Don Bradman as the greatest batsman of all time. Jackson's death from tuberculosis at the tragically young age of 23 meant that he gave only glimpses of what might have been. Jackson was a graceful batsman, his innings punctuated by delicate leg-glances, wristy flicks through the covers and exquisite footwork. He made his debut for New South Wales at the age of 17, and within a year was touring New Zealand with Australia, although he had to wait until the fourth Ashes Test of 1928-29 to make his Test debut. In it he hit 164 and a remarkable career beckoned. He struggled for form on the 1930 tour of England, his courageous 73 at The Oval when he added 243 for the fourth wicket with Bradman a rare highlight. But his successes were made against the backdrop of his failing health, and his appearances grew rarer. He died on February 16, 1933, the day that England regained the Ashes in the Bodyline series."

-"Regarded during the 1920s as the best left-arm spinner in England, Parker remarkably managed only one Test in addition to his 634 first-class appearances for Gloucestershire. His temperament was largely to blame. Renowned as a rule-breaker with left-wing leanings, Parker, not surprisingly, did not get along with Pelham Warner, who was the ultimate establishment figure. Problematically for Parker, Warner was also the chairman of selectors during the 1920s.
The pair clashed in a lift at the Grand Hotel in Bristol when Parker grabbed Warner by the lapels and gave him a piece of his mind. When asked to make way in a lift for Warner, Parker reportedly said: "I'll never in my life make way for that bugger. He's never once had a good word to say for me. This so-and-so has blocked my Test career. I played once in 1921 and he made sure I never played again. Make way for him? Mr Bloody Warner will go to bed when I've finished with him." Parker held on to the lapels for almost 30 seconds before letting Warner go. "The bastard," Parker muttered as Warner scuttled off. "He alone ruined my chances." - Fight night | ESPNCricinfo.com
