Test Cricket is Best Cricket
You're probably heard of The Panesar Draft. You've probably been part of The Panesar RNG Draft. Welcome to The Panesar Lottery.
The process of pulling "a Panesar" dates back all the way to the Lucky Dip round of the Layer Cake Draft, in which I took advantage of a rule set I wrote to be deliberately confusing and nominated Monty Panesar to the Lucky Dip while also rejecting him from my team. This later devolved into The Panesar Draft, in which we nominated players that we would never get back, and then had to try to fix our teams afterwards. The Panesar Lottery will be like that, except with no chance to fix things.
Da Rules
- We are picking Test teams. You don't really need to worry about that, because you will not have very much to do with this process at all.
- Your players will be assigned to you in the lottery. You will nominate 11 players for the lottery via PM once you have signed up. Nominations will be revealed after they have all been received, right before we start the lottery.
- You can nominate any player, so long as they have played at least one (1) Test match or five (5) first-class matches.
- If a player is nominated by only one person, then the player will be assigned to one of the other teams.
- If two or more people nominate the same player, then the player will go to one of those teams. This can be exploited: you may choose to nominate Mike Procter because you think I also will, which would give us a 50% chance of getting him. This can also backfire if two of us nominate Vizzy.
- In the case of this happening, the remaining nominations will be selected by Random.org from all players who have ever played a Test match.
- At the end of the lottery, you can look at your assembled
rabbleteam andweeptry to figure out a batting order. Or you could leave that to me and hope to forget your team ever happened. Whichever you prefer.
