I'm a first time player and I'm wanting to download all of the real team names,player names, competitions, stadiums etc to make the game as immersive as possible.
The game has literally just come and I'm downloading the updates. When I run it for the first time will I get prompted to do this and will it basically just work its magic? Or do I need to go places and download things manually? For the latter, is there a dummies guide to getting it all set up?

This seems to have been pretty straightforward but reading all of the posts about weird team selections has got me thinking if I've done it right. Basically I went to the cricket academy, teams and selected get best pressing y to do all teams so I did that for every page. Is that right? Wrong? If it's wrong can it be fixed?

It's not wrong. Many people will manually go through these threads and download the various teams that way just to make sure they're getting the correct squads/stadiums/logos, doing get best should still be fine. If you want to go through each team and download them manually you can reset your academy then go through and individually download each team.
the is the new women cricket team domestic teams with the south African women domestic teams with the English and more? if you have time thanks if I knew how to make a team without it going to customs teams?

I created/updated some Indian teams. They are tagged as Fan Favorite.
Name are correct now. Some have accurate faces , not not all.

I also updated the names of all ATG teams so that they exactly match default teams on disk team counterpart.
Due the the faults of the 'Get Best' this thread will keep up to date squads of each country/provincial/county side (although most likely it will end up having realistic squads as of DBC17 release which is 13th December-31st January)
Steps for downloading teams if you aren't using 'Get Best'*
1)Download any teams that do NOT have on-disc counterparts
2)Download Domestic teams
3)Download Historic Teams**
4)Download All Time International Teams**
5)Download Current International Teams
6)If there are any particular teams or players you want to check, now do those individually
NB: AT ANY STAGE IF IT ASKS ANYTHING ALONG THE LINES OF REPLACING A PLAYER MAKE SURE YOU CLICK 'REPLACE CURRENT WITH NEW'. FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN YOU HAVING MULTIPLE VERSIONS OF THE SAME PLAYER WHICH WILL SCREW UP YOUR CAREER MODE.
*Yes they're the same from last year (credit to @blockerdave). As far as I am aware nothing has changed.
**Step 3 and 4 are not required if you are wanting to play career mode.
Not sure of the easiest way to differentiate whether a team has kits, logos, players but I'll make a placeholder.
NB:
If nothing is there that means the team has up to date players, kits and logos
