The Reintegration Thread

Well none of them had to deal with a vindictive board like the ECB did they? Although Lara, Khan and Sangakkara had their well documented issues with their boards that led to major problems etc

Also I know you have been following the KP saga from the inception and its clear that saying "he needs to back up that he wants to play for ENG" is overly simplistic. Quite obviously the ECB regime led by the CEO and that tyrant Giles Clarke needs to make it abundantly clear that if KP plays county cricket and for majority of ENG season and scores heavily we will be picked again.

We living a cricket world where the money for the best players and coaches is not with international cricket, so KP at his age is 1000% right to not commit to ENG local cricket unless he gets those assurances. Its would make no cricket and financial sense for him.

I don't think it's overly simplistic at all. and for what it's worth I think KP should play the IPL. however, i don't think he should play the CPL... regardless of any statement or anything from the ECB, if KP wants to play for England, if he doesn't care about the money, he should commit to a substantial chunk of time playing all formats in England... if he did that and was scoring a bucket of runs, it would put immense pressure on the selectors.

i believe he should have been dropped at the end of the ashes, he was patently unfit. the sacking was ridiculous and the behaviour of the ECB since petty and vindictive. but KP has done nothing to warrant inclusion in the side... he should look to himself first, put pressure on the selectors and be in a position to say - why are you not picking me?

Again my friend, I fear you have just speaking solely from a fan POV and have not properly put yourself in KPs shoes. Even in our working lives, even if we love our jobs at a particular place/establishment if you have issues there and can get to do that job somewhere else with less stress and more money all of us would do the same.

Even if he was unfit during Ashes, he still was leading scorer, so not sure how he should have been dropped. What should have happened as KP alluded to is that he had knee issues and needed time away game to deal with it. Once that was dealth with, he should have been back in the ENG team as normal.

Also there is hardly any examples in recent times in our cricket crazy world from ICC to individual board level where player pressure/fans/any pressure on administrators makes any difference to their decision, if that was the case we wouldn't have the:

- ICC big three takeover all their general problems that their poor leadership affects world cricket
- west indies would not have recently re-elected Dave Cameron despite all their cricket madness
- Kumar sangakkara's MCC speech condemning SLCB would have brought serious change to that board
- Srinivasam would have been forced out of Indian cricket long before the India courts gave him no choice recently
- Australian cricket wouldn't have had all their issues between 2007-2013
- Pakistan cricket admins historical problems

So there is no reason to believe if KP gave up CPL to play county cricket that he would get to play for ENG if he makes runs once people like Downton and Clarke have the say at the ECB. Not reality.

Plus i'd argue that KP doesn't even HAVE to play in our cricket for any chunk to make back ENG team, he is our greatest international run scorer and doesn't need to go through that. Once he is fit and looking fairly good playing any form of cricket, a non vindictive ECB has to pick him. When Shane Warne was out of cricket for a year in 2003 due to his ban, AUS picked him for a crucial tour of Sri Lanka on the back of him playing a club game for St.Kilda, he did not even bowl a ball for Victoria in FC game.

So a player should be allowed back in a team in all formats with a free pass despite not playing any form of cricket other than T20 for the last 14 months, and even then being outperformed by numerous young batsman in our compeition, and only having a small spike of form? Then you add in the fact he isn't even attempting to prove himself in other formats.

No disrespect meant, but for you to also go on about KP "not attempting to prove himself in other formats" tells me you guys are failing to appreciate international cricket dynamics that players have to deal with and ECB stumbling block that i mentioned previously that KP has in front of him.

And there's every chance that the current ECB set up could come tumbling down at any minute, Graves coming in, poor performances ongoing.

If he really had any strong desire to play again he would prove his points and give those claiming he should be back in some justification, of which they don't at the minute.

If I were KP, I would want to be assured that if I got in form through domestic, I would be seriously considered for national selection. There was hardly even a silver lining on offer until this World Cup debacle happened

Would you quit your current high paying job and start preparing for your dream job, knowing very well that there is no chance that you will get it and the guys there hate you ? Probably not

No but I'd stop making the biggest point about it I could if I couldn't be bothered to back myself up with my cricket and ask my big media based friend to stop embarrassing myself by blabbing on about how England lost because I wasn't there every time.

Now we are stuck in loop :) Why should I be bothered to back myself up with my cricket when it wont amount to anything ? Especially at a high cost

KP is woefully out of touch and form and certainly needs to play long form to get his form back, which is evident from his form in t20 last year and being selected for base price in ipl [a huge cut in value from £900,000 to £210,000], if not for ECB he has to do it for himself cause if not i can see him being history by next year even in t20 leagues.

Still for a millionaire with good business skill it wouldnt matter much as he is already deprived of his core game and the only carrot that i can see him put in the hard yards would be the test cap!

Given ECB are assuring him of a place, he still needs to put in the hard yards in county given the long gap and get his form back, atleast a couple of hundreds would help nothing exaggerated!Otherwise it could well end up like yuvi selection in india selecting him when he was out of touch and form[even though he was pretty fit after an intense fitness program in france] and not selecting him when he is finally getting a bit of form in domestic cricket!

Oh dear ha, a few pages ago some posters were involved in some rich KP career revisionist crap about how he was a selfish batsman that never wanted to bat @ # 3 now this. Kindly tell uswhere and when has KP ever blabbed out anywhere that ENG lost because he wasn't there?

Well you just moved the goal post with that argument since that is an entire different scenario. Lets see if the ECB will really tumble first then asses if KP does the above, but again the reality remains there is no way back for him under Clarke/Downtown.

i think samp is talking about piers morgan .. well KP himself has said piers morgan is beyond any mortal's control let alone himself, besides that's almost the view of most kp fans including myself nothing wrong with it! while ECB has many problems for their downfall, two immediate Fixes that will give them some breathing room is sack moores and get KP in if he has his old touch still left!
