The Reintegration Thread

Pietersen has reacted to his omission.

BBC Sport - Kevin Pietersen disappointed at England squad for India tour

He should have kept it plain and simple.

"I am sorry for my part in the chain of events leading to my exclusion, I hope we can move forward and I can return to the England fold when the time is right"

Or something like that, apologetic not trying to explain his actions/what is going on, just show you are humbled and apologetic and say as little as possible.

Just bring KP back you daft twats and while your there just give him some more money as well, then he won't need IPL then, simple

And he probably only said in those texts that Strauss was crap and let's be fair he was right.

KP you the man., he is the best and he knows it,, I love that.

I think the ECB are making as much of a meal of it as Pietersen, but I do agree they shouldn't just pander to Pietersen and his band of followers because he missed a few games and issues a few 'apologies' normally laced with more buts than the average mooning session.

I can see exactly why they proceed with caution, Pietersen brings with him a circus and dressing room disruption. He's already blamed two team members for the tw*tter saga, despite all of the team being asked to confirm it wasnt them - how's that going to aid TEAM morale? The mere fact he accused them all speaks volumes of his relationship with the team, and what he thinks of them. They may not be rocket scientists, or theoretical physicists (:) ), but they're not stupid enough not to see through him. He's all about himself, wanting to cherry pick his cricket then doing u-turns and just mucking everyone about. Talented cricketer, definitely. Worth bending over backwards to accommodate with all his baggage, debatable.

The ECB should have done what I said, sat down with him, told him what's what, set a fixed ban period of say six months to be reviewed after that period was completed without so much as a peep out of him about the whole affair. How to mend bridges with the team is another matter. Strauss is gone so that obstacle was removed, and no doubt the ECB know there was a KP factor in that decision. What happened would be hard not to take personally, whether people think Strauss was a good captain or not.

Don't give that article much credit at all, his article is as agenda driven as he accuses the ECB of being. I'm sure the ECB want a world class batsman back in the side, what they don't want is a world class ******* and unfortunately the best tend to also be the worst in other respects.

I don't see anything agenda driven by Dobell's article.

He has highlighted the the wrongs and rights of both sides in this stand-off leading up to the current state of affairs.

so think it very unjust to criticise his captaincy in that series

England played very well, doesn't mean the captaincy isn't open to criticism.

Read my post again - never said Vaughans or anyones captaincy isn't open to criticism. I was talking about that one particular series where I think you are being unjust

If you are going to criticise someone's performance in a winning 5 test series against arguably one of the greatest test teams of all time, then you will never be satisfied

No one is flawless, and in fact practically any performance by anyone can be put under scrutany but his performance in that series was very good

Maybe a little off topic (or not). But has anyone seen what Piers Morgan put on twitter ? "@piersmorgan: Andy Flower and the ECB would have dropped Ronaldo by now - too big an ego, petulant attitude, disruptive dressing room mercenary etc."

It's REALLY easy to sit back in your lounge chair and say 'oh they should bring back KP'. But we don't have any idea how disruptive he has been, nor do we have any idea what his true effect has been on England's dressing room. I've got sympathies on both sides really. I can see why Flower doesn't want KP in his team, and I can see the danger of dropping a guy for non-playing related issues.

Perhaps the best indicator will be how England does without him. A quick search of statguru tells me this. Since Sep 19 2010 here are England's results with and without KP:
Tests with KP: P 22, W 11, L 6, D 5
Tests without KP: P 1, W 0, L 1
ODIs with KP: P 23, W 10, L 12, T 1
ODIs without KP: P 24, W 14, L 7, T/NR 3
T20Is with KP: P 8, W 5, L 3
T20Is without KP: P 6, W 3, L 2, NR 1

Reports that both Strauss and Cook are maintaining level heads and trying to progress sensibly, as opposed to the KP "me me me me me" reports in the media.

Strauss has just confirmed the KP apologised, fair play to the man (STRAUSS) for coming out and putting KP in a decent light.

Cook has revealed more reasons why those clamouring for KP's return need to hold their horses and use their heads :

"I did have a meeting with Kev and I have been involved in meetings. Clearly the issues haven't been resolved and that is why he is not available for selection at the moment," Cook said.

"Time hopefully will be a healer and we will be able to move on.

"The issues will still have to be resolved before Kevin plays for England again.

"At this present time the issues haven't been resolved and he can't be selected.

"Meetings are still going on in Sri Lanka at the moment. David Collier and Hugh Morris are out there as well.

"If the issues can be resolved, Kevin has said he is available for selection but at the moment that can't happen."

Obviously the issues are reservations that the ECB and England team have with KP, what they want to happen or needs to happen, be it apologies, assurances, perhaps even what he says in the media, or whatever, before he can be selected. They're absolutely right, sounds like they are doing it exactly the way they should have. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts, the team has to come before the individual.

"We'd rather take a hit, than take a sh*t" - England's India tour slogan.....................

Doos means idiot basically.

But he is a guy who like to yap crap. Why do you think South Africans hate him and Clive Rathbone so much.

Remove Bangladesh and you got P 18, W 7, L 6, D 5
