Yup, we're back, and better than ever.

After finishing Numero Uno in league IV.17 (Divsion 4, 17th legue) due to a shock victory by underdogs Velociraptor over Uptil-then Number One's, Lucian Magama, the TT Lions were well set to top the league and get promoted.
Unfortunately, it wasn't over yet, as they had a playoff, but a storming 10 wicket victory over DeMetro meant that the TT lions had been promoted to III.6 (Division 3, 6th league).
A large leap, and with all the changes coming out in Battrick V3, will they be able to cope?

This thread will have regular updates, in this format:

The Players

Now we all know that no team is complete without its players (:p), so here are the men that make the TT Lions such a force.

Star Players:

All teams have their star players, those players whom perform remarkably, time and time again. Those players who can turn matches within the space of overs. Those players who are always the center of attention in a match. Those players that give your team its character. Those players that make you proud of your team, even if they are losing.

Ryan Crouch
LHB, LM Bowler, 19 YO
Playing Position: Allrounder

Ryan Crouch is the perfect example of what the TT Lions are all about. Aggressive, Hard Working, Determined and Talented. A young player, he has a very bright future ahead of him.
As a batsmen, he brings about memories of Bevan. A hard hitting batsman with beautiful timing and even better hand eye co-ordination, he places a high price on his wicket, almost never looking as though he would be dismissed. As a bowler, he seems more like Vaas, constantly pegging away at a nagging line, comfortable with the keeper standing up or behind. He has a variety of tricks up his sleeves, a quicker ball, off and leg cutters, 2 slower balls, and something described as a skidder. He cunningly varies his pace and length, and seems capable to bowl with the new ball and at the death, and even seems content just to peg up an end in the middle of an innings.
But he is more than just a destructive batsman and a hard working bowler. He has that match winning ability, the heart and that little something extra in him that makes him perform when the team needs him the most. He is a true 'Lion', in every sense.

Stats:
Batting: 17 Innings, 7 Not Outs, 725 Runs @ 72.50, 1 Hundred, 5 Fifties, Highest of 178.
Bowling: 47 Wickets @ 17.96, Economy 3.85, 1 Five Wicket Haul, Best Bowling of 5/18

Arthur Dennis
RHB, RMF Bowler 23 YO
Playing Position: Batsman/Captain

Arthur Dennis is the most aggressive, and arguably most talented, player of the team. He has remarkable hand-eye co-ordination, and has great concentration, and has the ability to bat out a whole match Dravid style, but doesn't live up to this great talent. A hard working, ruthless batsman, he will try -often succesfully- to launch any delivery pitched in his half into space, and pummel anything else. But this often results to his downfall, and critics claim that he isn't doing his talent any more justice by pushing himself furthur down the batting order, but a beligerent 169 against Carioni Plains CC opening the innings succesfully put those critics in their place.
As a captain, he has great leadership skill and the ability to command eve the most stubborn of players. He sets inituative fields and never loses his cool, always having something new up his sleeve. A true team player, his record never came nor will ever come before his team.

Stats:
Batting: 15 Innings, 8 Not Outs, 682 Runs @ 97.43, 1 Hundred, 4 Fifties, Highest of 169.

Consistant Performers:

No team is without its consistant performers. They may not be flashy, they may not be the crowd's favourite, but they get the job done none-the-less.

Bowlers:

Runako Atkinson
LHB, LMF Bowler, 21 YO
Playing Position: Opening bowler

A young, hard working, pace bowler, he strives more for pace, although he doesn't sacrifice any accuracy when he does so. He relies heavily on swing and seam movement, and less on variations, although he is very cunning when it comes to varying his speed and length. Usually keeping a wicket-to-wicket line, at his destructive best he his lethal, jagging the ball all over the place and at sometimes dangerous speeds. A hard working lower order batsmen too, he isn't talented but likes to think he his. A crowd pleaser with both with bat and ball, he never misses the opportunity to have a bit of chatter while fielding at the boundary.

Stats:
Bowling: 55 Wickets @ 18.96, Economy 4.29, 1 Five Wicket Haul, Best Bowling of 5/63

Carlton Drayton
LHB, LMF Bowler, 21 YO
Playing Position: Opening bowler

Although at first look, Atkinson and Drayton may seem to be identical twins, the difference between them is like Day and Night. Drayton doesn't strive for pace, as he doesn't need to. He regularly clocks speeds of well over 140Kmph, and has even been reported to have touched 158Kmph during his fantastic 5/15 off 7 overs. Although the speed at which he bowls at may suggest he is a hot head, he is actually the polar opposite. A very hard working bowler, he has several variations in his armoury and is a fanatsic bowler at the end of the innings. He is a tall man, and bowls with the aura of a player who has been playing for decades. The less said about his batting, the better.

Stats:
Bowling: 48 Wickets @ 20.83, Economy 4.44, 1 Five Wicket Haul, Best Bowling of 5/15

Mike Leonard
RHB, RM Bowler, 25 YO
Playing Position:Bowler

A hard working, methodical bowler. He relies more on a constant line or length, and has been known to keep the runs down in the middle of the innings. Not a wicket taker, he isn't as gifted as his counterparts and oftens struggles to find a place in the team. A sharp fielder too, he has saved many a valuable runs fielding in the 30-Yard circle.

Stats:
Bowling: 9 Wickets @ 47.78, Economy 4.53, 0 Five Wicket Hauls, Best Bowling of 2/30

Batsmen:

Nyron Cox
RHB, RF Bowler 22 YO
Playing Position: Opening Batsman

A young, highly talented batsman, he has made the opening spot all his own. A batman who oozes with Carribean flair, he isn't afraid of taking the attack to the opostion. He cuts, pulls, and drives with wonderful timing, and has scored runs against the toughest of opposition. The TT Lion's most succesful batsman in their first season, he should look to repeat this performance next season.

Stats:
Batting: 28 Innings, 10 Not Outs, 1596 Runs @ 88.67, 4 Hundred 14 Fifties, Highest of 132.

Mohammed Delop
LHB, LM Bowler 22 YO
Playing Position: Top Order Batsman

A doughty left hander, he is the most technically sound batsman in the team. He possess all the strokes in the book, but prefers not to unleash them, although he has scored a couple of belligerent, beautiful fifties this season. The first batsman in the team to reach 1000 runs, he will be looking to touch a few more milestones next season.

Stats:
Batting: 25 Innings, 9 Not Outs, 1552 Runs @ 97.00, 4 Hundred 9 Fifties, Highest of 134.

New Comers:

The future of the TT Lions

Ted Lonergan
LHB, LM Bowler 22 YO
Playing Position: Top Order Batsman

Leon Atherton-ham
LHB, LFM Bowler 19 YO
Playing Position: Bowler

Billy Mpumelele
LHB, LF Bowler 20 YO
Playing Position: Wicketkeeper/Batsman

Rich Nguyen-lee
RHB, RH Spin Bowler 21 YO
Playing Position: Allrounder

Pat Cash
LHB, LH Spin Bowler 19 YO
Playing Position: Bowler

Jordan T?oeu
LHB, LF Bowler 19 YO
Playing Position: Batsman

yes a game in Cricket 2004 versus the Falcons, I'll crush him harder!:p
Uum, in my game. And if you remember C2K4 correctly, Crouch will be very effective, and Dennis will have a ball against your measly spinner :D
Nah, I won't do that. And I'll update my sig later. Atleast I reached the semis, Nippon Ham :)

Down at the market:

The TT Lions have a couple of fine players up for sale here at the transfer market:

1) Julian Jackman
LHB, LF Bowler 28 YO, BTR 3,041
Starting price: $10,000

SOLD: $25,000 - KenyaGhettoWarriors

A good consistent allrounder, he performed pretty well for the TT Lions this season, and with a career batting average of over 40 and bowling average of around 27, he will be a good addition to any team. He also has experience on his side, and is a decent wicketkeeper.

Stats:
Batting: 5 Innings, 2 Not Outs, 152 Runs @ 50.67, 0 Hundreds, 2 Fifties, Highest of 77*.
Bowling: 16 Wickets @ 34.44, Economy 5.15, 0 Five Wicket Hauls, Best Bowling of 4/47

2) Dougie Bates
RHB, RMF Bowler 17 YO, BTR 2,535
Starting Price: $0

He is a very good fielder, and...welll, thats about it. Well, atleast he has time on his side :p

3) Mitchell Bryant
LHB, LF Bowler 23 YO, BTR 3,574
Starting Price: $0

The TT Lions back-up keeper, he never got into the side due to Anton Fallon's success, and a strong batting lineup couldn't find room for him in it. The recent emergence of Billy Mpumelele means their is no room for him in the squad

The Cup Preview:

Today's Cup Match is against The Singlechasers.
They came in at #2 in IV.42, and it should be a fun match. Their bowling looks pretty frail, and I have decided to take this opportunity to give a couple of youngsters a game. Mpumelele will open the batting, and allrounder Nguyen-lee and pacer Atheron-ham will be given a bowl. Should be an interesting match.

Crouch starts of season with a bang!
Scores fabulous ton and takes 4/17 as TT Lions amble home by 90 runs.

An easy enough victory, once we posted 299 they never really looked like winning it. Mpumelele did well as opener, and was backed up beautifully by Cox after Dennis fell early charging down to the medium pacer. But the partnership between Delop and Crouch really took it away from them. Gave the opposition almost no chance. As you can see, 3 of the 4 wickets were stumped, which meant they were either out there with attacking intentions, or that Flynn is a fantastic keeper.
Their openers did well, as Atkinson was caned all over for 35 runs off his first 5 overs. But Nguyen-lee got the crucial first wicket in a wonderful spell of 5-0-17-1 on a green wicket (his last five overs were hit for 34 runs). Atheron did his bit and kept things tight, and Drayton bowled a tight opening spell, but Crouch just ripped them apart with 7-0-17-4 to win us the match.

No prizes for guessing who the MOTM was.

Its mostly luck. This team was inactive, and my next is against another inactive team. I have actually fielded my worst possible side in that one! My all round worthless pull is actually getting a game there as a fielding specialist!

Down at the Nets

Here are the sessions I had set:

Rich Nguyen-lee = 2*Bowling
Leon Atheron-ham = 2*Bowling
Jorden T?oeu = 2*Bowling
Mike Leonard = 2*Bowling
Pat Cash = 2*Bowling

And sadly no interesting pops to report. Atheron popped in concentration, but apart from that just some form and BTR pops. Oh well, this was just week one. There is always next week :)
