This forum is dieing

If this forum is dying, the best that can be done is you taking active participation in things, especially when PCPL sign-ups are open. If you older members don't take part, you shouldn't be blaming the newbies and the staff for the downfall if any.

This forum went downhill when Internet access became widely available to South Asian teenagers.

Oh and when the development of cricket video games turned to doggy doo doo.

It's become worse ever since those South Asian teenagers didn't have a guy they were trying to impress... Now they just go on about anything and everything.

I've said it a few times, but quite often this forum resembles some kind of day care center/English learning tool :p

Still, I keep logging in and posting, so either I have some serious mental deficiences or it's not all bad... Could be both I suppose :yes

You mean you don't spend your free time cutting fabric in factories???

Hmm, I seem to have grossly misjudged what this forum was for :spy

Mark?

The forum's English is surely dying, can be said from the title.

We need Mark to spark the activity and guide the South Asians with care so that they become better members. :)

Joined about 6 months ago, still in the nOOb days but most forums normally reach this position of inactivity when a cartel control the main threads and forums looking to bash the younger members, of which apparently are contributing the bulk of activity on this forum at present.

The last page or so of this thread indicates the presence of the cartel I am pointing out. In closing fellow members I urge the older ones to nurture and guide the younger members not by brute force but rather by the way the forum allows.

If not then the senior members can continue bickering about the 'South Asian' block being illiterate and 'how better I am than him' until PlanetCricket becomes dead due to the lack of inactivity.

Thing is it works both ways... a lot of pretty decent posters also stopped bothering to post here due to the constant inane rubbish. This isn't a creche, it's an internet forum. It's also one of the few that actually bothers to protect the posters you think need "nurturing." I would suggest things like running newbie mafia games and helping people to learn to play are all well and truely part of that process, but do you know what, the real world is a lot tougher than posting rubbish on a forum and getting called out for it.

On most busy forums they'd all have been laughed off within minutes.

As for you, you've pointed to a page where basically Blitz has said people need to contribute more, and me and Barmy have made jokes about Planetcrocs... :facepalm

Facts of the matter are though, this was primarily a cricket gaming website, and the most recent game released was 3 years ago and was barely modable. Not exactly rocket science :rolleyes

One more thing as well, I'm pretty sure that at the last count, of the couple of thousand worth of users that have registered over the years 78% of them are actually Mark.

As an interesting aside one of the reasons we invest time in helping members to improve is that we've seen the fruits of it. A lot of the highly respected members around now started out as total spambots (no names!! ;))
