This is it - Ashes Cricket (Beta Feedback)

Beta team, was just wondering if anything has been/will be done about the unrealistic low down catches that are taken one handed. Is there anyway to replace these animations with the two handed dives that are in the game?

Issues with catching animations are mainly cosmetic and fixing animations is quite difficult, so I'd expect fixes for that kind of stuff to be lower down the list of priorities.

Fully understand that it may be of low priority however they have done a brilliant job of changing the animations for the keeper so had really hoped that it might be addressed as visually it just looks bad

it's something we've talked about. i felt the same too about the high ones that were jumped and plucked out the air nonchalantly in dbc14/17... but yeah the low ones would look so much better as two-handed dives. i don't know if it can be addressed.

Couple of questions for the beta testers (thanks for all your efforts btw!)

Firstly, interested if there was any discussion about the spacing between slip fielders? At the moment they do seem a bit bunched up in the sense that given the their diving range, they at times go over and across the next slip to complete a catch (essentially rendering the need for the additional slip redundant). Thinking that the current first slip should be at 1.5 slips, the current second slip should be at 3 etc...thoughts?

Secondly, any discussion on the animations/physics around the defensive shot? At the moment, every defensive shot is a perfect dead bat where the ball stops on the pitch, whereas in real life defensive shots (especially when they are played late) tend to zip or ping off the bat and reach the 30 yrd circle. Second, it seems that the ball speed seems to slow down whenever the defensive shot animation is triggered...in other words, Starc bowling at 160k but when the batsman plays forward defensive the whole animation with bat and ball gives the impression that the movement has been slowed down just before the point of impact. Sort of lose a bit of satisfaction playing a solid defensive shot when that happens:)

Just nitpicking on minor things I know - the game is absolutely brilliant and everyone involved should be proud!

I think slips has been looked at in depth. Not a major issue right now for me.

Agree with you on defensive shots. In dbc17 you could lightly press RT for a more robust defensive prod which I loved. Currently this seems to have been removed along with backfoot leaves. Otherwise I am impressed with batting so far.

Does any of the excellent beta testers on the game think the stats updating issue within tours/competitions could be rectified in an update or is it a design flaw? DB14 was able to incorporate them.

Only watched videos/streams so far but that point about defensive shots is something I've noted as well.

Hi Beta team, in ODI have some lbw issue and even review not working is that I need to update any patch pls let me know the solution

It's a design flaw based on I think a faulty understanding of what dbc14 actually did and What is an acceptable solution to the end users. I don't know if it would get rectified.

Can someone tell if the career stats are tracked correctly or not ? Am yet to recieve my game

To the whole bets testing team.

I thought one final time I will highlight this problem and wish and hope it gets attention.

Below are videos comparing backfoot play in dbc14 and ashes.
Trying backfoot pull shots for middle to off stump short balls.
Interesting results.

I'm not a a batting expert by any means.
But to me, it seems that the new version is more realistic?
In dbc 14 your player seems to teleport to the right in order to play that pull shot.

In real life, I don't think you would be able to play a pull shot when the line of the ball is so wide, compared to where the batsman is standing?

Also, it looks like the bowling machine is bowling cutters, which in turn is affecting the line of the ball even more. Making it even further from the batsman.

I'm probably wrong, as I only ever played Cricket when I was little (and never very well)
