Ive read lots of threads about people not being able to bat very well so below is a mock up of what us poor batsmen need. All it needs is someone whos really good at batting to mark out on the pitch what shots need to be played depending on where the ball pitches. Ive had this game for nearly a year and Im still quite bad at it so can someone PLEASE help me and others out?

Heres my example.

i dont get what you mean, where the lines are, do you want to know what shot to play and what type of bowler

The lines point to where the balls pitch and at the top of the lines is the name of the shot.
I only actually use about 4 different shots at the moment as I dont know when to use the others. I must be missing out on about 80 runs per innings due to poor shot selection. :(

As that picture shows, it depends on the type of bowler. In this example, a left arm bowler, pitching it on the batsmans off side, should be either a cover drive or a straight drive. The one pitching short on the legside, would be a backfoot leg glance, or perhaps a leave for a wide, depending on line. The shorter one is harder, as cutting the ball is difficult, so maybe a back foot cover drive, or a back foot steer if there are no slips.

Thanks again for the reply. The picture is just a mock up and what I want someone whos good at batting to produce. I was'nt asking about the particular balls in the picture, its just an example. :)

But I'm saying that it's not exactly hard, it's mostly common sense and practise.

Nope Im playing it as it is. Ive never wanted to make it easier for myself, that to me is just cheating. I guess I just want to know how to play cricket and to bat properly. I can never make enough runs from the shots I play. Most of the time I hear ' straight to a fielder' or I get caught or just plan bowled. Maybe I am just useless at cricket. :)

Do you want something like this (credit to bbc)
