Not really, but game on considering the bowling depth of Pakistan!
with Pak having a good bowling attack and after initial struggle, I think pak managed to make a good score.

With NZ lineup 144 should be an easy chase. Thats bearly over 7 an over. By 20/20 standards that is a low total.

Pakistan win the contest by 16 runs

New Zealand flounder opportunity

After a superb start to the innings, New Zealand floundered a great opportunity to win the game and though they did not lose a single wicket, the pressure exerted by Pakistan in the middle overs proved too much in the end for the Black Caps as they lost the match by 16 runs in the end! Abdur Razzaq was adjudged the Man of the match for his superb 41 and his tight bowling in the middle overs!

Matthew Sinclair and Lou Vincent started their chase with a flourish scoring 48 runs off just 6 overs at around 8 runs per over! They were severe on Shoaib Akthar who was too fast and wayward and was easily scorable for the New Zealand openers! Sami was also hit for runs though he was marginally better than Akthar! Vincent was the more aggressive of the two, scoring at more than run a ball whearas Sinclair was content to hit boundaries off the bad balls bowled by the Pakistani fast bowlers. Danish Kaneria was introduced in as early as the 5th over and Shoaib Malik in the 6th over as the Black Caps were tied down for two overs. But the 7th and 8th overs again produced a glut of runs as New Zealand were surging ahead at 8 runs per over!

But the removal of the fielding restrictions after the 6th over opened the match up for Pakistan and Pakistan never looked back from then on! Though they could not pick up a single wicket, the pressure exerted by their bowlers over the New Zealand batsmen baffled the on looking audience and no one could answer why a single wicket in the New Zealand innings did not fall! It was imaginative captaincy by Inzamam Ul Haq as he persisted with Shoaib Malik who rewarded his captain by keeping it tight to the batsmen by bowling to the stumps. The fielding of the Pakistanis was refreshingly tight today as the fielders dived and stopped important valuable runs!

Abdul Razzaq : Man of the Match

Abdur Razzaq and Danish Kaneria also maintained the pressure on the New Zealand batsmen by drying up the runs to a huge extent. The pressure was mounting on the batsmen as the required run rate rose to over 9 runs per over and the batsmen werent willing to take any risks. It was an utter stupid display by the New Zealand batsmen who choked themselves up against a bowling that can be best described as discplined!

Finally, Sinclair took the bull by the horn and started pelting the ball all over! But it was too late by then as the required run rate touched 14 runs an over.. It was down to 41 runs in the last over needed and the match was thought to be truly over. But Shoaib Akthar had other plans as he bowled a no ball and Sinclair took full advantage of it by smashing a six and brought it down to 18 off 4 balls. But Akthar bowled a rollicking delivery at the rib cage of Sinclair making him fall almost over his stumps. The last two deliveries were bowled tight by Akthar for Pakistan to complete an unusual victory where they won without picking up a single wicket!

Next Match: Canada vs England

That is a very poor effort by the Kiwis. That total should have been easily chased. They should have taken more risks as they stil had 10 wickets left.

England plunder Canadian bowlers

England off to a murderous start - 61/2 off 5 overs

England and Andrew Strauss get off to a murderous start after Canada surprisingly inserted them into bat, plundering the hapless Canadian bowlers to the tune of 61 runs off the first 5 overs! Though they have lost two quick wickets by the end of 5 overs, they are well placed to cross 200 in this match against a Canadian attack woefully short of international experience! Andrew Strauss has been the star so far, plundering 32 runs off 23 balls! He and Trescothick put up a partnership of 61 runs in which Strauss totally dominated the proceedings. The best shot of the day was a 'at the crease' six that jammed into the sightscreen.

At 61/0, England committed their first mistake when Trescothick took a risky second run and was run out in an unfortunate manner. Canadian fast medium bowler, Joseph picked down the ball and threw it to the wicket keeper who completed the run out!

Next ball, Michael Vaughan was out in utter senseless fashion. One would have expected a sensible shot from the England captain but he played an utter disdainful shot trying to loft the ball out of the ground, but mistiming it only to find the mid off fielder pouch it with elan! Vaughan was out first ball for a golden duck as the English fans were shocked!

Sad news: Due to a crash of my laptop, my .sav file of this tournament and Cricket2005 has gone out for a toss! Since i was playing the tournament on a single .sav file, I am forced now to stop playing this tournament! I cant even continue playing the tournament on a single match basis as I have lost Cricket 2005 also and I dont possess Cricket 2005 anymore as my brother was the one who bought it for me and he has taken back to India!
