Tour match thread -Scotland v Australia Aug 28

Just wait. Hauritz will take one accidental wicket forcing himself to be an automatic selection for every match from now on. Goodbye ashes

Lee is going to get picked, we're gone...
If he can keep bowling like that, I've got no qualms.
I've only closely followed speeds since 2005 so this may be wrong, but is that the quickest Lee spell you've seen in an non limited overs match?
Possibly. If the speeds are to be taken seriously, then his top speed is currently around 155 kph. You could argue that it's proof that the speeds are being embellished, but he doesn't look anything like the Lee that was struggling for pace. He has been getting some venom out of a dull pitch and swinging the ball late, which is usually a prime indication of the pace being put on the ball.

I will add that we haven't yet seen a really Stuart Clark kind of pitch. Clark's bowling is very attritional and often what has impact is that opponents struggle to find wickets that cost less. While he is efficient at exploiting pitch features, on a featureless pitch he is not likely to snare too many wickets.

Lee did say he is fitter than ever, yes I know he says that every time but it sounds like this time it could be different. If he is consistently bowling 155km/h then he is going to be a real handful especially with the reverse swing.

The interesting thing for me, is that he'd come into a spell and be straight at 90mph which is a stark contrast to any time over the past few years when he'd come into a spell at 80mph. Of course, I reiterate that it may just be adrenaline in fighting for his place, but I still think it is most promising.

Good start, Johnson finally gets a wicket and Lee grabs his 6 fer. Mahmood had no idea where that ball went.

Rashid's batting nicely here. Definitely looks to have some batting talent and has coped with these seamers very well. That cover drive off the bent knee was a treat. Johnson doesn't really appear to have swung the Dukes ball though, could be a problem if he fails to swing it for the whole series.

This innings by the England Lions shows exactly why Australia will not retain the Ashes this winter. Lee seems to be quite unthreatening if there is no movement, Clark is merely a containment bowler now, Johnson can't even get the basics right and there's no spinner to speak of. Most of the pitches for the 5 tests are going to be like this one and we will have no bowling weapons to deal with the English batting.

The line and length of Clark gets Rashid in the end. Good knock by him though, he certainly will be a handy player for England when he cracks the starting 11.

A remarkable comeback all the same and the Australians get a vestige of a lead for it. Although Lee has sewn up his spot, pressure remains on several players. Clark snuck away with tidy figures, but he was not impressive. Hauritz too, must come to the party. Numerous Australian batsmen shanked their opportunity to enjoy good batting conditions. Hughes will want to prove that Harmison's spell in the first dig was just a fluke, North will want to prove he's not a bowling all-rounder. Plus, a couple of them Lions players can yet make the England side for Cardiff. Plenty going on in the final half.

I've got a problem with Phil Hughes, where I reckon he may, at some point get found out, he is very jumpy at the crease and doesn't seem to get forward very much, he also at some points seems to move back and away instead of back and across, it's only a slight thing but at some point it could come to haunt him.
