Tour match thread -Scotland v Australia Aug 28

Clark doing well, sucks for Manou though cause he's unlikely to get his chance in the test series now. Why is he backup anyway, why not Ronchi? Ronchi's statistics are a lot better than Manou's
Ronchi's ████, if you watched Aussie domestic cricket, you'd know that :p Manou's been one of SA's most consistent batsmen over the last two seasons, and his glovework's always been respectable.

Oh bollocks Phil Hughes is bashing it everywhere. That's the series gone then. Hughes is gonna flay us everywhere and Clark will skittle us easily; especially with the mighty Ian Bell as our new main batsman...

So yeah, 3-1 Australia.

Johnson - 7-0-42-0
Watson - 5-0-20-2

Oh dear.

:D

What johnson is back yes.:banana2

Edit-watson is back.:pnice to see him getting wickets keep it up he will come in place of hughes i think so.;)

McDonald opening eh? Well he's not making a complete hash of it like I'd expect

Hope this is the rise of Hughes again although if McDonald is making runs then you can't read much into it.

Johnson has to be dropped now and Siddle is only saved by Johnson as he too has been shocking. McDonald has been expensive as well so hes ruled himself out of contention with the ball.

And good on Northamptonshire for declaring.

Would be a bit silly to drop Hughes now I think. The start of his innings was scratchy here, but I think the selectors need to show some faith in him and give him at least another Test. Watson would probably only come in for North and that all depends on how confident Ponting is in the 4 bowlers doing the job.

As for bowlers: Hilfy and Hauritz are locks...Wow didn't expect to write that at the beginning of the tour :D

Looks like Mitch v Siddle v Clark for the last 2 spots. McDonald an outside chance if the tail looks too long without Mitch. So in that case it's probably going to be Mitch/McDonald for the #8 spot & Siddle/Clark for the #10 spot. Combination-wise: Mitch & Siddle is too loose. McDonald & Clark lacks firepower. So the best combos are either:
1) Mitch & Clark or
2) McDonald & Siddle

I'd be leaning to combo 1) at this stage. Give Mitch another shot. It would be a little tough on Siddle, but sometimes these things happen.

Well with Johnson you know he can get you some lucky wickets and his batting is quite the asset. I definitely wouldn't be going in with McDonald and Hauritz in the same side, one defensive bowler that won't get many if any wickets is enough. With Clark you get both the defensive and attacking aspect.
