The trouble is in reading the results in these conditions, which are quite batsman friendly and then trying to predict from that what would go well at Edgbaston, which is likely to be quite a difficult surface and slow outfield, with the lack of sun it is getting. Then the fact of the matter is that batting again doesn't suit the tourists all that much. Most of the bowlers only bowled a single spell and some of them bowled quite a short one. Whether they bowled badly or without luck, it may only be 3 or 4 balls that define such a spell. The Australians will most certainly want to have another bowl, but they'll have to make a first or second session declaration to do it.
