I just sold a mediocre/mediocre/competant spinner for 45k which I bought for 5k about this time last season, I didn't train him at all either.... If that doesn't prove how overpriced the market is then, I don't know.

Does anyone here think that maybe fixed transfers would be easier than a bidding war??

I mean yes you might not get as much for players but it would make buying a lot easier for financially handicapped teams.

We could still have the transfer search tool and sellers could set asking prices for players. Buyers could then make an offer whether it be higher or lower than the asking is upto them. The seller can then choose to accept or not.

Who else agrees?

Not really, no. For one, utilising the transfer market is a part of not being financially handicapped (so is not shooting one's self in the foot). The Youth Academy works pretty well, IMO. You can't really get more power from the YA if you have millions in the bank than if you have a few hundred thousand.

Secret bidding is interesting. There'd still be a market economy, but player values would probably not explode as much. Players would need to be much more savvy at assessing demand. However, the flaw would be that the seller could notify particular bidders that they are not winning, to increase bids.

In any case, I haven't seen any systems that are so much better that they should be implemented.

The only thing I could think of, which would be pretty funny, is if the battrick boffins work on increased simulation of player behaviour. When you get a player you have to commit him to a contract, if he's too good for you he will probably only agree to short term and expensive wages, if he's a bit weak or older he'll look for as many seasons as possible. You could elect to "initiate discussions" with a particular player that you like. If he is really unhappy at his club, or nearing the end of his contract, the activity would be successful, then you be able to lure him to your team with minimal public interest.

I tell you what, we could do a thread about new features to battrick that you'll never see.

That would be pretty cool. I would be pretty gutted if I couldn't manage to hold onto my best players.
