Truly Disgraceful Behaviour

I don't care what the police did to 'inconvenience' some fans, somehow I view death threats as a bit more inconvenient.

Without wanting to sound like Pauline Hanson, the European soccer fans can go back to where they came from. Some of these fans are just absolute morons and all they want to do is throw flares onto the ground and start fights. We don't need that sort of thing, we don't have it in any of our sports and we don't need it starting up.

Pfft. People have been knifed and bashed at countless NRL games (Canterbury Bulldogs, anyone? :p).

And why only the 'European soccer fans'? Why not the lebanese too while you're at it? Are you avoiding the fact that the riots at the a-league recentely have been full of Australians? Yes, that's right, some Australian's are thugs too. You can't just make a claim singling out European soccer fans with nothing to back it up with.

I know that not all soccer fans do this but there seems to be a bloody lot of them. Watch the game and if you lose get over it, blame the refs and complain a lot but don't get physical. The A-League is starting to see stuff like this and it's absolutely disgraceful. Thank goodness we don't see it happen much in AFL or rugby.

The a-league hasn't had anymore violence then Nrl has. It's not just soccer. And you go to an a-league game you'll see that 99% of the people there aren't from Europe at all. Sure, they may have fancy sounding last names, but the bulk of them are Aussies. (I can't comment on AFL, I don't know anything about it)

Again, it's these Greeks and Italians and whatever they happen to be that are causing the problems.
You are grouping two completely different soccer nations together here mate. Once again, the people who are getting all aggro at the soccer in Australia are Australians. Just because someones last name ends with 'zartiti' doesn't mean they must of just jumped of the boat from Italy. They are just as Australian as you are (although apparently not, according to you Aussies are civil when it comes to sport...)

Aussie may enjoy getting drunk but we're pretty civil when it comes to sport. Football is fantastic because everyone's too busy watching the games to fight with each other. If this is what soccer fans do then they must not be enjoying the games much, and say what you want but the fact is if the supporters are engrossed in the game they don't start abusing each other and arguing/brawling.
Once again, you are putting Australian's over one side, and soccer fans over the other side. Part of the reason soccer has this whole violent side to it is the sheer size of the sport. Of course AFL and NRL aren't going to get that sort of insane reaction, they are tiny sports that most people don't care at all about. Soccer on the other hand, is the world's biggest game. More fans=more violent fans.

In every 100,000 soccer fans in England, there are probably about 500 who are seriously violent thugs,it would be the same quota in Australian sports too, it's just that Australian sports don't have the numbers of fans. Sorry, but your sports aren't anymore morally superior to theirs. You just have a smaller fan base, so the thugs in your group aren't going to be noticed, compared to a sport that has billions of fans.

GRRRRRRRR these people who think they're cooler than us just because it was their great grandfather who came to the country on a boat, not them. :p

Im sorry Jordox but your wrong as 90,000 fans come sometimes and ill say about 35,000 people turn up on average each game?(im not to sure about average).

What's your point? In fact, you are proving my point. There are more soccer fans in the world than there are Australians. 90,000 turn up to the odd collingwood game is nothing, when you are facing up against a sport that is played on pretty much every country on earth.

I don't follow... What countries do encourage violence in sport? Tell me that.. And yes I did see Australia in the 2006 world cup, once again, what is your point?

My point is at the pub they have the footy on and pretty much everyone who watches it has it with a beer and i never see violence or anything like that after a game.

Dont go too far mate, English fans are just the same as these Greeks and Itallians you mention. Football culture here is stupid we have ''firms'' where hardcore fans can start fights and beat up other team fans, its animalistic behavior.

Oh and we also get our ''classic British films'' like Football Factory, Rise of The Foot Solider and This Is England all these films revolve around violence, football voilence and loads of other depressing stuff. But these films egg on hooligans.

So? Just because the people in your pub are civil doesn't automatically mean that violence isn't associated with Australian sport. It's stupid to even compare the two - soccer is the big league. There is more money, more publicity, more fans, more marketing, more everything than any Aussie sport, hell even cricket is a midget compared to soccer. Because of it's huge following, there will be more thugs. It's a given in human society unfortunately.

And besides, it's no big deal anyway. ;)

You need to get a train to school??

Well I would drive but it is just too expensive to do a 40 mile + round trip so instead I get the train which is a fiver, return :D

I'm also getting fed up of Dean portraying the Aussies as so brilliant and us as a bunch of backward hooligans.

He had a go at Joe calling saying he jumped on the "bandwagon" and it just seems he is looking for a fight with the Brits.:

The fact is, soccer is a bandwagon jumping sport. How many people on this forum for example go for a team outside their area? You live in Middlesex but support a London club. Leicester Fox lives in Leicester but goes for a Manchester club.

He also needs to allow people to have their own opinions instead of constantly banging on how great AFL is:

Soccer definitely goes backwards more than AFL does.

:noway

DPRA you can't say the people weren't wearing colours so they weren't rangers fans :p Not sure with other clubs but most aways I go to at united a lot of the fans don't like wearing colours and I know it's the case on RI. Just because they don't think grown men should be walking around in replica shirts which is fair enough.

The difference with fans of other sports is they don't care enough about their team to travel to a completely different country (admittedly in this case it's only England but it happens everywhere) without a ticket. It's extremely rare that you'll find fans causing trouble, anywhere near this, in the stadium in the uk.

Oh and Aussies you don't have to worry because the world cup will never come to Australia.

I'm not having that it was Celtic fans, if it was, then why would they be so bothered that the screen went off? Why would they make the journey down to Manchester? Yes as Joe said, a lot of people don't like wearing colours to matches.

Hope the scots are happy now, although I more blame Manchester City Council for this:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/manchester/7405591.stm

What an absolute disgrace!:mad :mad :mad :mad :mad :mad :mad :mad :mad

It's bad enough that they've put a stop to the big screen idea, but now we can't parade the trophy, the council must either be citeh fans, bitter about Trafford Council or both. Having it 3 months later would be nonsense:mad: I remember going down there in 99 and it culminating inside the MEN Arena, but the council now seem to forget what publicity that did for Manchester, or the 2003 Champions League final. They banned the big screens for England games in 06. It's a disgrace, most teams have a parade for getting promoted, we can't (if we win) celebrate winning the biggest prize in Europe.

EDIT: By the way, football is very important fellas, people are loyal to go and watch their team anywhere in the world, very stereotypical view of European fans there Dean. There's nothing wrong at all with going to somewhere and having a few drinks in the pubs before and after the game at all, it all helps to have a good laugh.

Oh, and MIB ftw:D

Rangers played crap :mad, and the fans have a right to be angry for not having the match shown on the big screen after waiting for 2 hours (CNN said so),

F Tom and Celtic.

I reckon Moscow will be worse. Apparently all the Russian casuals are itching for a pop against the famous English hooligans.

I don't think Colins,
Have you seen the security arrangements?
We don't have that much Police even at the time of Election?

They are going to seal all the roads for the Stadium and going to open just one Entry/Exit.

Just look at the last page of tickets contains 46 points of instructions.
I can't take My Notebook,My ifon and even my Car keys in.
All type of Glass bottles are not allowed, hell they are so many.

Anyway nobody wants to experience Russian Police as they have best ways to torture.;)

I certainly wouldn't plan on messing with the Russian police but I can't see the event passing off smoothly.

Countless NRL games? I can only remember Bulldogs vs Roosters a few years ago as the last big brawl at an NRL game.

Stgeorge dragon army had flares for a few games at there games. Theres nothing wrong with them as far as I'm concerned. They put them up when we were coming out at the start of the game and that was it.
