I'm not going to lie, I am also sometimes angry when umpires give wrong decisions. But now, we are just blaming the umpires a bit too much. In the recent England vs India game, Tendulkar and Dravid were given wrong decisions, but they were both reasonable.

I recently saw HT (Indian News Channel), and they were showing how Sachin was given wrong decisions. But you can all see most of them were close as they were close to the bat, or the ball was deliberately left and the appeal was convincing. Unless the umpire breaks a rule, and does something clearly wrong, I think we should take it easy on them.

mate u r right but dont u think that the umpires should have called them back after seeing the replay on the big screen........ ( Kevin peterson was called back after given out in the first test at lord's)....

The channels will go on because they are an Indian channel. But the Indian team management were well within their rights to lodge a complaint on the standard of umpiring that has been on display throughout the tour of India in England. Even top umpires like Simon Taufel made quite a few mistakes which could have had a bearing on the result.

Obviously they would be disputing decisions of his - they love him.

I think it would be fair to say that India bore the brunt of the wrong decisions which went against them throughout this series, but they cannot blame umpiring for losing matches. England played better as a team and deserved to win. India's woes were increased by poor captaincy and fielding problems. You cannot win a match just with great batting - it's bound to fail at one time or the other and India lost in the last match... that's all.

Oh no he made one mistake!!!:eek::eek:

I think they should take him off the elite panel of umpires because he made a couple of mistakes when other umpires do it all the time also.

No, Tendulkar was given a wrong decision. Dravid got an inside edge, he was out. It seems the Indian team and the Indian fans are making a little too much of 1 bad decision.

Well, its expected to happen when a man with 15,000+ runs and 18 years of cricket experience is given out in such fashion in a crucial game and at a crucial stage... Moreover, its not the first time happening to him though.

Its simple as Shastri pointed out, " Tendulkar's dismissal hurt India "

Ravi Shastri said:
Unfortunately, a couple of decisions that went against India was, for me, the turning point of the game, and they were not [decisions against] ordinary players. It was [Sachin] Tendulkar and Dravid.

You have to remember that umpiring is not an easy job, Umpires have a lot of pressure on them every time they go out to the middle since everyone is talking about technology coming more into the game.

Generally umpires are very good and so is Aleem Dar who has proven himself to be a great umpire in the past few years, they are allowed to make the odd mistake now and again.

I do like the idea of the referral system where each side can have 3 referrals which when a bad decision comes around can be made right.
Its just players need to learn how to use them.
If the batsmen gets a nick on the pad and he's given out lbw or get given out caught behind when he didn't make contact then the referral will be successful.

In situations like this where the two umpires have to make these decisions then umpires deserve more sympathy.
They are human and they do make mistakes but they do get most decisions right.

I agree. They have seconds to react and a whole series can be decided by those decisions. I think they could be a lot worse and it is luck if you get a bad call. Get off their back.

It's all just sour grapes. You won't find me lambasting umpires because for all the mistakes that go against us, there's always the exact same number going in favour of us. A lot of people just need to grow up and treat cricket as sports entertainment rather than life or death because whether you want to admit it or not, there is far more to life than cricket.

The rules of the game say that video evidence can be used to determine a clean catch, that was why he was called back. It had nothing to do with im not edging the ball.
