Warm up Match: January 6th 2006
Queensland V Pakistan - BRISBANE CRICKET GROUND PAKISTAN TRIUMPH OVER QUEENSLAND
In a closely fought game, Pakistan came out winners after beating Queensland by 40 runs in their first warm up game. Queensland, who two days before beat England were on a high and M.Hayden pick up from they were against England with them putting a 100 stand for the first wicket. However, again J.Maher well 2 runs short of 50 whilst Haydn hit 67. Unfortunetly they were the only two bastmen who really got going with the next highest scorer being C.Perren (20). On the otherhand Pakistan had good scores all the way through with most batsmen reaching 20 plus. However big scores from Yousuf Youhana (82) Shahid Afridi (52) ensure them a big total.
Meanwhile with the ball Bichel failed to reproduce his figures as in the England game but instead M.Kasprowicz took 3 wickets for 39 runs from his 10 overs. For Pakistan M.Sami took 4 wickets despite going for 76 runs from his 10 overs along with 2 wickets from Naved- Ul- Hasan and Abdul Razzaq.
Now England and Pakistand face 1 more warm up game before the VB Series gets underway.

New South Wales V Pakistan
SYDNEY CRICKET GROUND NSW DEFEAT PAKISTAN AT THE SCG
Pakistan 1st Innings
New South Wales narrowingly defeated Pakistan at the SCG by 23 runs in their final warm up game. Pakistan won the toss and put NSW into bat on a green looking pitch, however, they batted well and posted a massive 243 to win. This was largely thanks to the opening stand where G.Mail (37) and P.Jaques (45) put on a big partnership. Apart from this however the runs were limited with the 1st team Australians going for 27 and 22. However a 32 from Phelps and 28 from Bradstreet ensured them a big total.
Meanwhile when it came to the Pakistani chase, again there was a huge partnership at the top of the order with Shahid Afridi (64) and Taufeeq Umar (53) putting on a huge partnership but apart from this the next top score was 23 from Captain Inzamam- Ul- Haq. However more worryingly was the number of runouts with there beign 5 in total, this shows so uncertanty in the squad that must go before the VB Series kicks of.
Overall NSW bowled tight and took plenty of wickets with Katich taken 3 for 49, on the otherhand Pakistan were costly at times but manage to bowl them out with Shahid Afridi taking 3 for 28.

Warm up Match: January 11th 2006
New South Wales V England - SYDNEY CRICKET GROUND S.JONES MAKES A INROADS IN NSW Update after 15 overs: NSW 79-2 (15 overs)
A terrific spell from S.Jones has meant that England have made a good start to this warm up match. The welshman has taken 2 wickets of both openers within the first 15 overs with G.Mail going to a brilliant caught and bowled. At the other edn D.Gough as threatened occasionally but overall has lacked penetration and therefore has not been a threat.
At the end of the fiedl restrictions, S.Katich and M.Clarke are at the crease and are the two batsmen most likely to feature in the VB Series.
SUPER SUPER JONES:
- Jones celebrates the dismissal of P.Jaques.
- Just as Mail was getting away Jones pulls of a stunning caught and bowled.
However before the wickets were taken it seemed a repeat of the Queensland clash for England with the ball going to all parts of the Field. G.Mail especially seemed to time the ball pefectly and when S.Katich arrived he seem to do the same.
TERRIFIC TIMING:
- A straight as you like down the ground.
- Mail on the pull shot for 4.
- S.Katich desipatches the ball over the infield for 4 more.
Warm up Match: January 11th 2006
New South Wales V England - SYDNEY CRICKET GROUND ANOTHER WICKET BUT CLARKE DESTROYS Update after 35 overs: NSW 137-3 (25 overs)
The introduction of A.Flintoff brought about the wicket of S.Katich who was caught by Pietersen at Mid On in Flintoffs first over. However the other batmen Clarke was on the war patch smashing 10+ runs of Flintoff second over. The anger was evident of Vaughan face after his prize bowler got smashed for six. The pair, Thornley and Clarke have put on 40 together and threaten to do more if England don't break this Partnership.
ANGRY VAUGHAN:
- Clarke and Thornley take the attack to England.
DESTRUCTIVE PARTNERSHIP:
- Clarke and Thornley chat after putting on 40 together.
Warm up Match: January 11th 2006
New South Wales V England - SYDNEY CRICKET GROUND GOUGH HATRICK NOT ENOUGH TO STOP NSW Update At End of Innings: NSW 255-8 (50 overs)
A Darren Gough hatrick wasn't enough to stop NSW from reaching 250. However at the half way poitn it seemed as if they would be nearing 270 and therefore it suggest England bolwed well. The pick of the England bolwers was D.Gough with 4 wickets, all coming in his last over for 57 runs. The there was S.Jones whos figures were good untill he was smashed for 20 from the very last over of the innings, he took to wickets and then there were contirubtions from Collingwood who removed the dangerous Clarke and Flintoff who got Katich early on.
NSW were slow towards the end to get the ball going to the boundary, this was manily due to some great bolwing from Alex Loudon and P.Collingwood whos spells were both under 25 runs. However M.Clarke went on to make 59 from 94 balls and D.Thornley 79 from 106, together they put on 99 runs. Apart from this there was no other bastmen who really got in and therefore this inninsg was down largely to this huge partnership.
MICHEAL CLARKE & THORNLEY:
- Clarke came in after the fall of G.Mail and it was vital in performed.
- After the departure of Katich, it was vital that him and Clarke hung around, Thornley did so and got the rewards.
PAUL COLLINGWOOD:
- Collingwood provided a great example of how medium pace can be dangerous taking 1 for 21 from 5 overs.
HATRICK HERO, GOUGH:
- Goughs hatrick came right at the end ensuring that the runs scored were going to be limited.
- The hatrick ball which got smashed miles into the air and was safely caught by G.Jones.
So England now have the up hill challenge of chasing 256 towin on this alround ODI pitch. Is it possible? find out soon.
Warm up Match: January 11th 2006
New South Wales V England - SYDNEY CRICKET GROUND MCGRATH DESTROYS TOP ORDER Update after 15 overs: England 53-5 (15 overs)
A pumped up Mcgrath who will almost certainly feature in the VB Series has ripped throught the England opening Batsmen Taking 3 for 30 from 10 overs. A.Strauss was lost first after he smashed 2 boundaires in arow and tried to lfick the ball from off stump to the legside, trapping himself LBW in the process. Then M.Vaughan was Dispacthed for his 2nd Duck in 2 games when he Edge one through to the keeper onhis very first delivery. However on a Hatrick Mcgrath failed to remove Pietersen who made just 3 before fallen LBW to Bracken. However England fought back from 21 for 3 before Trescothick made a school boy error of not running his bat and consequently costing himself his wicket. Following this A.Flintoff who looked in good touch Edge one to Jaques at a 2nd Slip posistion leaving a mighty up hill Task for P.Collingwood and G.Jones.
TRESCOTHIC BATS WELL:
- The captain can do nothing as Trescothick find his feet.
TRES DISMISSED:
- N.Bracken breaks the stumps and is dismissal is confirmed by Billy Doctrove.
FlINTOFF THREATENS TO ATTACK BUT FALLS SOON AFTER:
- Flintoff hits some 4s and looks threatening.
- Mcgrath wins the battle getting him caught at slip.
ENGLAND REQUIRE 203 RUNS FROM 35 OVERS AT 5.8 R.P.O
